President Donald Trump told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House Monday that suggestions he was some sort of Russian agent were totally ridiculous, and insisted that the entire special counsel investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election is a "whole big fat hoax."
It's in keeping with his broader approach to the question of Russia's election meddling efforts and ties between those close to his campaign and actors for foreign powers: This is all a sham. Special counsel Robert Mueller is out to get him -- as is the entire FBI. They've got nothing. (The 192 criminal counts, 36 people and entities charged, seven people who have pleaded guilty, the four people sentenced to prison and the one person convicted at trial as a result of the Mueller probe make clear, of course, that Trump is wrong.)
But even if you ignore all of those facts about the Mueller investigation, there's still one question I keep coming back to over the last 48 hours: Why did Trump go out of his way to ensure that no records of his meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin exist?

Another good reason no records of his meetings with Russia exist is because there were no meetings with Russia.
The answer’s simple: leakers.
There’s been a consistent pattern of supposedly “trusted” administration officials who’ve done their utmost to derail Trump and his programs. When you’re negotiating with a nuclear-armed competitor there’s every reason to avoid having your words distorted and misinterpreted by the media.
I concur.
The president has been the victim of deep state leaks of private conversations. Why wouldn't he take measures to ensure his privacy?
Anyone who sees this as shocking or nefarious is either a liar or lacking in brain power.
that guy is too big of a p*ssy to actually come out and say what he’s trying to hint at: he’s accusing the president of treason. based on less than nothing.
God hates cowards.
The Dems take a vacation and their partner CNN tries to keep the pressure on Trump ,LOL
..... Not to mention that early in his Presidency the Deep State and Media found it very poignant to release Private Conversations between Trump and world leaders ....... So why do they even ask such a stupid question ....
I dont think it was his aides he was guarding against as much as the damn historians.
There’s a new push to rehash all this with new obfuscations.
Each time I see this happen it is because they’re scared. Something is either happening or about to. It’s a distraction to something else which must amplify the call for the immediate removal of PDJT.
...how’s Ruth Bader Ginsburg doing?
Because he knew the intelligence agencies were still full of Obama appointees who were out to get him. Hello?
U S Sen Warner on Cavuto just said it needed investigation because Trump was acting suspicious about changing the USA relationship with Russia when he was running for President.
Like who didn’t know the relationship between the USA and Russia had deteriorated. Hello? And because of that, they thought he was a Russian agent? No wonder Comey and rest have all either resigned, retired, or been fired.
Engaging CNN in any kind of rational conversation regarding President Trump is like engaging a wall full of anti-Trump posters. It’s a one-way street.
My take is that if the truth were let out, it would embarrass Putin and DJT is too gracious to brag about taking Russia to the cleaners.
Is the President required to provide transcripts of any or all of his conversations?
Is this considered a 'public record'?
What is the precedent for releasing or withholding transcripts?
Did he promise Russia that he would be more flexible after the election?
Did he give them our uranium?
Did he decline to say where he was during the Benghazi terrorist attack?
Fake News.
And fake news isnt interested in the truth.
It wants to destroy Trump! No wonder its obsessed with Russia.
Because presidents of two important, strong countries discuss important issues that should not be published in media for everyone to see.
If I was surrepticiously planning to undermine my country, I wouldn’t have a translator present. Nor would anyone.
