In the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the presidents behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests, according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation.
The inquiry carried explosive implications. Counterintelligence investigators had to consider whether the presidents own actions constituted a possible threat to national security. Agents also sought to determine whether Mr. Trump was knowingly working for Russia or had unwittingly fallen under Moscows influence.
The investigation the F.B.I. opened into Mr. Trump also had a criminal aspect, which has long been publicly known: whether his firing of Mr. Comey constituted obstruction of justice.
Agents and senior F.B.I. officials had grown suspicious of Mr. Trumps ties to Russia during the 2016 campaign but held off on opening an investigation into him, the people said, in part because they were uncertain how to proceed with an inquiry of such sensitivity and magnitude. But the presidents activities before and after Mr. Comeys firing in May 2017, particularly two instances in which Mr. Trump tied the Comey dismissal to the Russia investigation, helped prompt the counterintelligence aspect of the inquiry, the people said.
The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, took over the inquiry into Mr. Trump when he was appointed, days after F.B.I. officials opened it. That inquiry is part of Mr. Muellers broader examination of how Russian operatives interfered in the 2016 election and whether any Trump associates conspired with them. It is unclear whether Mr. Mueller is still pursuing the counterintelligence matter, and some former law enforcement officials outside the investigation have questioned whether agents overstepped in opening it.

NYT does not seem to want to tell us that this “investigation” was opened by McCabe and Strzok. We know how honest and unbiased they were.
Paying money to porn stars
I always said we should send Stormy Daniels gift certificates to Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan.
We cant spare this man. He fights.
I believe it was the known conspirators (Comey, McCabe, Page, etc.) investigating a connection as part of their master scheme to overthrow a legitimate government - a crime for which they should face their day in court. I feel confident no one outside the FBI headquarters knew anything about it.
The bed of maggots known as the FBI needs to be turned up to some sunlight. NOW.

Well, no. That's the opposite of the truth (as Mark Levin pointed out tonight). The FBI inserted agents into the Trump campaign and, with the DoJ, colluded with the Hillary campaign, the Brits and even the Russians in a variety of efforts to extrap and subvert Trump campaign staffers and develop a Russian collusion narrative to use as October surprises and insurance policies.
By the time Trump fired Comey, Comey was up to his eyeballs in the resultant mess of illegal domestic spying based on fraudulent FISA warrants, etc and would not stop. Comey was out of control along with the rest of the corrupt FBI like McCabe, Strzok and on down the list. The FBI did nothing, and still has done nothing, to clean up their ranks.
The NYTimes is perfectly fine with that. Banana republic corruption of the highest law enforcement agency has to be celebrated and lied about. "Agents" were suspicious? Like Strzok? Those agents? Try corrupt and seditious.
Bingo. What a pathetic state of affairs.
He’s probably the cleanest president since Harry Truman .. er... Maybe Calvin Coolidge? Hell, he hasn’t ever held public office prior to a few years ago.
What a bunch of wankers
NY SLIMES disembelling the Page testimony to grease the skids for the mueller report
Cutting through the spin, the real takeaways from the article are that the FBI, on its own, initIated criminal and counterintelligence investigations of the President a) in reliance on the fake opposition research Steele Dossier; b) because they disagreed with the Presidents political positions, which they believed were too pro-Russian; and c) because they feared the appointment of a new Director who might align politically with the President. This ought to scare and and appall every American.
Your Narrative Engineers at the NYT came up with this gem.
FBI tactics are no better then the Gestapo’s tactics.
Explain. What is non sense?
Ok, what gives the NYT is exposing FBI corruption (finally) and you call it fake news? Really?
Trump still hasn’t purged the vipers in the Deep State & FBI. It’s needed or they will take him out.
LAST PARAGRAPH.
That's a lie.
“Mr. Trump had caught the attention of F.B.I. counterintelligence agents when he called on Russia during a campaign news conference in July 2016 to hack into the emails of his opponent, Hillary Clinton.”
hack into?????
No, no, Trump suggested that the Russians FIND the MISSING emails. The server had long been shut down, and the witch was no longer a government official.
And also it was tongue-in-cheek. Did the FBI really think that Trump would signal to the ENTIRE WORLD his supposed ties to the Russians?
These FBI people are nothing more than despicable, deceitful white trash and they were manufacturing a reason to justify what they had previously, already started, which was illegally targeting Trump.
May I have extra pickles on this Nothing Burger?
This only confirms that the FBI was infested with Democrat hacks.
Were the agents Page and Stroked?
