Does this now mean that Texans never fought on the side of the south? Does taking down a sign “rectify” the matter??

From the article:
" The plaque, erected by the Children of the Confederacy in 1959, reads in part '
the war between the states was not a rebellion, nor was its underlying cause to sustain slavery.' "But Texass declaration to secede from the union said it originally joined the U.S. because it 'was received as a commonwealth holding, maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery
which her people intended should exist in all future time.'
'The secession documents of the State of Texas, whose legitimacy are not in question, flatly contradicts the claim
' Johnson wrote to the State Preservation Board in August 2017. The 'plaque has no rightful place in the Texas Capitol.' "

When can we vote on the removal and future ban of all MLK Boulevard signage throughout Texas?

The report is wrong. The plaque is historically accurate.

Anybody who has read Lincolns Inaugural Address or who has read the Corwin Amendment knows slavery was not threatened in the US. Its preservation could have been ensured permanently with the approval of Texas and other Southern states.

People will believe whatever fantasy they want to believe regardless of a plaque.

the war between the states was not a rebellion, nor was its underlying cause to sustain slaveryCowards! There's nothing inaccurate about it.
It was the result of the federal government and the Northern States refusing to honor the Constitution as it was written.

The plaque is perfect. Leave it alone.

If I was living in the South I'd wear a baseball cap with a Confederate flag on it 24/7.I'd do so not in support of slavery but simply because it would pi$$ off so many SJWs. I can't do it up here because if I did I'd be lynched....yes,I said "lynched"....within minutes of being seen.
And for the record...it would be whites (sorry"Caucasian Americans") who'd do the lynching.

Its preservation could have been ensured permanently with the approval of Texas and other Southern states. The original seven Confederate states had seceded before the Corwin Amendment was offered and before Lincoln's inauguration, and having adopted a constitution that protected slavery to a far greater extent than the U.S. Constitution did.

Read the texas secession ordinance. It makes it abundantly clear Texas succession was over slavery. Take it down.

What? I never heard that.

They say that Texas will eventually turn “blue”...at least partially because of its proximity to the border.Hopefully I’ll be long gone before that happens because when (if) it does this country’s finished.
