Transportation Security Agency officers forced to work without knowing when their next paycheck is coming are no longer just calling in sick. Now, 18 days into the partial government shutdown, some are resigning, according to Hydrick Thomas, who heads the TSA Council on the American Federation of Government Employees.
Every day Im getting calls from my members about their extreme financial hardships and need for a paycheck. Some of them have already quit and many are considering quitting the federal workforce because of this shutdown, the official said in a statement posted to the union's website on Tuesday. He did not specify how many had quit.
As essential employees, the country's approximately 50,000 TSA officers must remain on the job despite the shutdown.

Pelosi will contact her muzzie congress girls and schedule a terror attack to slime Trump
You are lucky you did not have a sewing kit with you.
I have seen TSA goons take sewing kits from ladies.
I have also seen them feel up women in their 60s.
Some of them have already quit and many are considering quitting the federal workforce because of this shutdown,
WINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They can’t collect unemployment if they quit.
So, this also tells you that they know that there are jobs out there due to the great economy.
A golden opportunity to privatize the whole thing!
Another one of W's fusterclucks .. there were plenty of agencies and resources in situ without piling on the Orwellian DHS & TSA.
W got my votes because at the time he seemed light years better than the alternatives.
Hindsight has been both 20/20 and instructive.
After the Democrats fought so hard in the beginning to make sure those positions were federal employees with all the bennies and the labor union? s/
Treat them like Reagan treated air traffic controllers. This is a union organized Democratic Party action.
I fly out of a small airport in Texas and, until I finally got PreCheck, I got patted down every SINGLE time I flew, despite the fact that the number of people in my demographic who have ever hijacked a plane or carried out a terror attack is, as far as I know, zero.
I had a flight a few years ago. Take off the shoes, take off the jacket, go through the scanner, get patted down, the whole annoying mess.
So, I finally got through security and sit down a few feet away to put my boots back on. I glanced down at my purse, sitting beside me, and was totally shocked. My purse had gone through the x-ray scanner; sitting right on top was my key chain, with my PINK pepper spray canister! They patted me down, but completely missed the pepper spray sitting right there. I had forgotten to take the pepper spray off my key chain.
I got myself together and strolled down to the ladies’ room where I put that thing in the trash.
Notice how the article doesn’t tell us the number of resignations, nor how that compares with the usual attrition rate. With 50,000 employees, the TSA probably has a turnover of over a dozen every day — maybe dozens.
Most of those leaving might eligible for a pension, and were thinking of retiring regardless. Most of the rest might be leaving the best job they ever had, or will ever get. Recall when the TSA was formed, after 9/11 — the jobs were moved from the private sector (mostly employed by airlines) to the government. Wages were boosted by a large percentage.
Recall Reagan’s solution to the air-traffic controllers strike?
There are all sorts of no-interest loans and other programs for furloughed workers. There are also unemployment benefits and food stamps, etc. Plus there is plenty temp work in the private sector, not to mention permanent jobs. This is ridiculous!
6 years ago, I flew from Chicago to El Paso TX and back, and didn't discover the 5 shotgun shells in the bottom of the pocket of my carry-on bag until after I unpacked after getting back home. TSA missed them both times.
“who wants to quit a cushy federal job for one missed paycheck?”
Notice how the left forgets to say once the shutdown is over they will receive their full pay?
“who wants to quit a cushy federal job for one missed paycheck?”
That hasn’t even be missed yet.
They’ll regret it once they realize they have to get real jobs and actually work for a living.
Trump Calls Out CNN for Publishing 'Fake News' About the TSA Not Showing Up to Work
I might actually fly again.
What are the seats like now?
If i was a passenger i’d berelieved i wouldnt be molested by tsa.
Shut down TSA permanently.
I am not flying until they do.
