Accusations against Donald Trump today are actually a Hollywood remake of the great Reagan Iran Collusion Scandal of the 1980s. Democrats were just as convinced that Ronald Reagan was an illegitimate President because Reagan stole the 1980 election. Reagan couldnt have been a better president than Carter. He must have conspired with Irans Ayatollahs to delay the release of hostages from the U.S. Embassy in order to manipulate the election campaign. Democrats really do believe in recycling.
The Democrats just took control of the U.S. House of Representatives by 235 Democrats to 199 Republicans. The House will (predicts this author) hold impeachment hearings of Donald Trump and will hold a vote to impeach under the Democrats in 2019 through early 2020.
Articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump were immediately filed on Thursday, January 3, 2019, on the first day of the new session of Congress. Congressmen Brad Sherman (D-CA) (Northridge near Los Angeles) and Al Green (D-TX) re-filed their Articles of Impeachment they had previously filed in the last session of Congress on July 12, 2017.
Later that evening, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) a Palestinian-American women declared that the Democrats will impeach Trump: Tlaib quoted her son telling her, Mama, look, you won. Bullies dont win. And then she said, Baby, they dont. Because were gonna go in there, were gonna impeach the motherf@@@er.
“Rep. Tlaib was handed the microphone...”
Knowing Trump, he probably PAID for that microphone.
“...That includes establishment republicans who I believe will put heavy pressure on Pelosi to nip this in the bud and kill the motions for impeachment....”
This is a lesser-mentioned point that is important. There are many GOP deep-staters that have skeletons in the closet that would be exposed if Trump goes all-out on declassification of much evidence. He is holding that play card for now...
“I disagree. The time was September. It might have saved the House and we wouldnt have to deal with all this BS.”
I had mixed feeling on the House. The Republicans there elected Ryan knowing FULL WELL that he was part of the Trump ‘resistance’, if not the leader of it. I like the idea of the Republicans getting a taste of what they tried to do to Trump. Maybe they’ll even learn something after getting treated like crap from the people they were helping out.
As it was, the Senate was MUCH MORE IMPORTANT, due to nominations, and specifically judges. I would trade Republican control of the House, if it got us even one more seat in the Senate - that’s how important the Senate is, at least for now.
Regarding the House, I’ve always wondered in the back of my mind whether Trump wanted the Democrats in charge, knowing full well that the Republicans wouldn’t do jack (since Shuemer can still stop any legislation he wants to, and Republicans don’t seem interested in electing any leader who supports Trump fully), and that the Democrats would overplay their hand and show the country EXACTLY how horrific they have become.
The problem being is that there are tens of millions of Americans who STILL think the Democrats are of the JFK mindset, where they actually love and believe in THIS country. Now the Democrats FINALLY out there, for all to see, and it is simply NOT POSSIBLE for the media to still run interference for them, with them calling the shots in the House. Those old-time Democrat loyalists are now seeing just how HORRIFIC their party has become.
Comey gave classified info to his civilian buddy, by his own admission.
How these two are able to avoid being arrested and convicted is beyond me.
Trump isn’t timing anything. He’s trying to save off disaster. Who on earth would want to be POTUS the day everything went hot? The problem is that the Dems are not rational or logical. They are in scorched earth mode NO MATTER WHAT TRUMP DOES. They have the media to spin for them and otherwise no fear or inhibition PERIOD. Add in RINOS who will vote against Trump if given sufficient cover and there is 2019 in a nutshell. Those of us who are still ambulatory will be out in the streets before 2019 closes.
I don’t have friends like that any more.
This article points out a very interesting parallel between the Trump/Russia collusion meme and the Reagan/Iran collusion meme of the early 1980s.
The argument is basically the same one, recycled: the Republican candidate could not possibly have beaten the Democrat candidate fair and square, so it must have been collusion - Reagan stole the 1980 election by colluding with Iran to make Carter look weak re the hostages. Trump stole the 2016 election by colluding with Russia to make Clinton look bad via Wikileaks re the email scandal...
Neither narrative holds up under scrutiny, because both were entirely fabricated propaganda operations.
I think the current version of this recycled Democrat/MSM propaganda operation will have about as much effect on Trump as it did on Reagan, who not only held on to his Presidency, but was reelected by the second biggest electoral landslide in US history.
I believe there was an earlier example of this recycled Democrat/MSM ploy, namely, Watergate.
Why were they successful in driving Nixon to resign? I believe it was because Nixon failed to develop enough of a personal rapport with his supporters to weather the storm of propaganda unleashed on him. Nixon had just won reelection in the biggest electoral landslide in US history, yet the MSM was able to turn the public against him. In his memoirs, Nixon suggested that making his case before the American people would have damaged the institution of the Presidency - so, much like a relatively innocent man might shoulder the blame for a divorce, rather than exposing the children to an ugly battle that would disillusion them regarding the institution of marriage, he chose to resign rather than damage the Office of Presidency.
Something tells me Trump won’t fall for that kind of baloney.
Nixon did try to cover for the “burglars”(even though he had no knowledge at the time of what happened) instead of fessing up early and to not try to cover for them to limit the damage. Nixon still would have won, more likely than not. They had him for obstruction of justice...but might have gotten only a censure had he not tried to do what he did. He screwed himself!
Very interesting!
“He screwed himself!”
I think Nixon was the victim of a vicious frame up by the Left - yes he panicked and made mistakes - like a fish caught on a line he set the hook in deeper as he struggled to escape. I think Senator McCarthy may have suffered a similar fate.
Luckily for Reagan and Trump, they learned from Nixon’s mistakes.
I think when fighting a propaganda war you have to fight back twice as hard and be willing to spill blood - Kavanaugh did it - Clarence Thomas did it. The Bushes, McCain and Romney? They just laid down and claimed they were doing it to protect the dignity of the office. Screw dignity. Nixon’s mistake was thinking we the people should be spared the ugliness of an all out war. I wish Nixon had gone down fighting...
“I wish Nixon had gone down fighting...”
Me too! Besides it was already mid 1974 when he resigned and he could no longer run for president as he was in his second term...his popularity wasn’t that damaged. He should have made them impeach him especially since the important budget votes were coming up(the fiscal year would have ended in October) and he could have used signing off on those budgets as leverage. Then the Senate could have dragged it out as I doubt there would have been 2/3rds that would have removed him. Nixon could have stayed right thru the 1976 elections. I don’t think the congress and senate would have been any different, it still would have gone Democrat but I’ll bet Nixon would have shut down the government had the Dem’s cut off funds for the Vietnam War the way they did with Ford. (yeah...I know... armchair speculations from the memories of a 12 year old boy who deeply admired Nixon!)
I think in the end he was tired of the BS and simply quit!
“....as I doubt there would have been 2/3rds that would have removed him.”
Well, there are historians (who know more than I do) who would disagree. They say the Senate would indeed have removed him.
But even if that is true, I still wish he had gone down fighting. The removal hearings would have been an opportunity for a few brave Senators to rise to the occasion and publicly call out the Left for its hypocricy and their shameful willingness to ruin a man’s life for political advantage.
Much like Lindsey Graham, Susan Collins and others surprised everyone with their much needed statesmanship during the Kavanaugh hearings, there would surely have been some brave souls who would have given Nixon’s Democrat character assassins a much needed tongue lashing, had he been inclined to fight and make an appeal to the people to defend his honor.
It may well not have saved his Presidency, but it would have established for all time that there were two opposite versions of the Watergate story - for Democrats, it was a story of unprecedented political corruption by Republicans, and for Republicans, it was a a story of an unprecedented political corruption of Democrats and a corrupt media, to bypass the voting public in order to bring down a President who had just won the biggest electoral landslide of all time.
Nixon decided that the Republic was better off not being dragged through such a dirty fight, and resigned.
Ironically, perhaps resigning was Nixon’s real coverup. He covered up the shameful hypocricy of his enemies so the real story of Watergate was never really told.
The day Ford was confirmed, Nixon was done.
Ford was their guy. They felt safe with him. The tapes killed Nixon and he would have been convicted in the Senate.
Screw it... he can't beat this establishment... no one can, it's too corrupt. Expose it all and let the chips fall where they may.
