A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employee says she was unable to get her family as much for Christmas as she typically does because of the ongoing partial government shutdown.
"My son made a comment where he said Santa didn't give us as much as he did last year, and that was heartbreaking," the unidentified employee told Buzzfeed News.
"We try to not be materialistic with our kids, but it kind of hurt that he noticed," she added.
The employee added that her husband is also a federal employee and said they aren't sure when they will again receive paychecks.

Will they do a story on all these goverment employess that got a free uncharged vacation. When the shutdown is over, they always pay the employees for days they didn’y work.

Maybe she should make a Public Plea to the 30 Million Illegal Aliens to chip in and help fund her part of the Government..

Exactly.......further it’s certainly been known this shutdown was on the way so there was plenty of time to prepare weeks if not months before.
And the employees save a lot of money on commuting, gas, parking, meals etc. So boo hoo.
I call BS. Cry me a river. The fed “worker” is likely overpaid and under worked. It sounds like they live paycheck to paycheck. That isn’t the typical government “worker” I’m familiar with. Their kid is too materialistic anyway.

When the shutdown ends, all the government employees will receive back pay for the days they DIDN’T work. President Trump also gave a free additional holiday (Xmas eve) for govies, so there’s another 8 hours of free pay. Also, did you know that on the day before most (at least 5 times year) major holidays that OPM issues a 3 hour early release? That means all govies get paid 8 hours while working only 5. This is all courtesy of the American tax payer.
A) As if it was much of a shutdown, oooo, starting at the Christmas vacay!
B) What do people do with their money that they don’t have anything stored up from their many steady paychecks? (It’s hard when you are really truly “poor” but I seriously doubt that with a Fed and undoubtedly her other family.)

As others have pointed out, no one’s paycheck could possibly have been affected *before* Christmas.
I would give a hundred dollars to ask these put up jobs how they worked that.
