President Trumptrails former Vice President Joe Biden in a hypothetical 2020 matchup, according to a new The Hill-HarrisX poll. The survey finds Biden leading Trump, 42 percent to 36 percent, better than at least two other leading potential Democratic White House contenders.
The president tops Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) in their matchup, with 37 percent saying they would vote Trump, and 30 percent saying they would choose O'Rourke.
Trump nearly ties with former presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the poll, with 37 percent saying they would vote for Trump, and 38 percent picking Sanders.

This is a poll of “Americans”. How did they exclude illegal immigrants from the poll? In other words, they accepted anyone who responded to the poll. Such a poll will always prefer Democrats. This is good news for Trump
Biden is the most powerful possible nominee.

Four years ago today, anybody seriously speculating that Donald Trump would get nominated by the Republican Party would have been laughed out of town.
Ditto eight years before that if anybody speculated that Barack Obama would be the 2008 Democrat nominee (likely response would have been "Barack WHO?")
So at this point, it is safe to say that nobody knows who will be the 2020 Democrat nominee.

Polls are worthless at this point—so many things are going to happen between now and 2020. All I can say is that it will NOT be Beto, Bernie or Biden. Nor will it be Hillary or Kerry or Moshelle Obama. It will be a new guy not seen as a major contender.
