GoFundMe for border wall raises more than $2M in just 3 days

A supporter of President Trump’s border wall proposal has started a GoFundMe to help pay for the project — and the fund skyrocketed to more than $2 million on Wednesday night after being live for just three days.
Brian Kolfage, a Trump voter and disabled Iraq War veteran with no connection to the administration, wrote that he set up the page because “President Trump’s main campaign promise was to BUILD THE WALL. And as he’s followed through on just about every promise so far, this wall project needs to be completed still.”
Trump campaigned on building a “great wall” on the southern border during the 2016 presidential election.
As the end of Trump’s second year in office comes to a close, his administration has not built the wall or secured funds for it — and a budget proposal passed Wednesday by the Senate did not fulfill Trump’s call to provide funds for it.
Kolfage wrote on his fundraising page that if every Trump voter donates $80 to his wall-building campaign, they will raise $5 billion needed to build the border wall.
“Even if we get half, that’s half the wall. We can do this,” Kolfage wrote on the GoFundMe page.

Up over 3 million, the guy that’s running it is a reputable guy. It’s sending a message of support for Trump, and a way to get involved.

Would it be absorbed into the general fund? I don't get it. You can't just walk up with a check and say, here ya go Mr. President....use this to build the wall. It doesn't work that way.
Don't you need legislation approving the building of a wall first? How can the land be appropriated w/o a law that allows imminent domain on that strip of properties?
Just asking the qwershuns. Any thoughts? I'd like to contribute and once it gains steam, contribute again. I don't want to just throw my $$ out there for someone to ultimately enrich themselves if the effort fails.
This is a dumb idea. First of all, these lefties will get 40% of the revenue. Second, this is obviously not going to succeed in being used in actually building a wall. As another FReeper said, this is more therapeutic than a real solution. It will run out of steam long before the funds are needed to reach even $5 billion (after the go fund me cut). Cute idea but it’s a waste of time that’s going to give the left a lot of the rights money.

Not only that, but should we not demand that our tax dollars be used for a legitimate BASIC FUNCTION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! They use our money for every left wing cause on Earth, yet when 1/2 of this country wants something foundational performed we have to have a freakin Bake Sale? NO!
DJT knows that failure to build the wall spells doom for the country and his re-election and our support. There is an alternative plan...coming soon I assume.

That one’s a charley and obviously made up their mind that the only way to show/garner support for the wall is to throw money into a wishing well.
There’s many effective ways to shore up support, but this callow person thinks anyone who realizes the utter folly of this lame idea is a “whiner” and “rubbernecker.”

I just donated. For you cowardly, cheap bastards...you can set the dollar amount to go to Gofundme...I did 5%. There, now you have to use some other excuse to sit on your ass and do nothing.
One thing I am going to get sick pleasure from is seeing the phony patriots crawling on their knees crying when the nation falls apart. I pity your families, but not you. Do something to save this nation or get your crying towels and knee pads on.
Excellent idea, but $3million still build a chunk of wall.
There is always a chance that this attracts some big cats with deep pockets.
