Because 10 Federal Holidays just aren’t enough.

In addition to the month of paid vacation they already get plus sick days, personal days......

I think it’s 13 vacation/personal days building to 26 days after 15 years in addition to 13 days of sick leave. Personal days are included in the vacation balance. On top of the 10 federal holidays. I was a federal employee once upon a lifetime ago, but in an employment status such that the above sweet perks didn’t apply to me.

Not a bad deal, that’s for sure.

Oh?

When I worked for the Navy Department, a person got 6 days vacation the first 2 years of employment, 13 days from 3-15 years, and 26 days 16 'til retirement.

Sick leave never varied from 13 a year and there were NO 'personal' days.

I must confess to abusing the sick days early in my career; taking off when I wasn't sick.

But it came to bite me severely when I was out for over a week with NO days to take; only 'taking' a loss of wages!

It was quite a wake-up call!

I never lied about the days any more and had a lot to cash in when I did retire.
