The impeachment countdown is on. Democrats are lurching inexorably toward trying to dump President Trump, even if they wont admit it now.
Conventional wisdom says that the Dems, who are about to take over the U.S. House, are proceeding cautiously, and will be reluctant to launch into impeachment proceedings. Nancy Pelosi is trying her best to restrain herself.
Dont believe it.
Democrats would like nothing better than to oust Trump. If Robert Mueller provides them with the ammo, the party wont be able to resist. Left-leaning voters are pressuring lawmakers to act, thinking about the months long torture that impeachment will inflict on the president.
Who is the most popular Democrat in the country? You could argue its Beto ORourke, the failed Texas Senate candidate and current White House wannabe celeb....

“It’s just a matter of time....”
...for the culmination of the revolution to occur with the impeachment, conviction (with some Republicans) and
removal from office of Mr. Trump.
(Fellow travelers will be singing, joyfully, in the streets.)
(Decks then cleared for Hilary presidency in one way or another?)
Just saying.
IMHO
He has to take a number and get in line to lead. There are many more vying to lead the pack including but not limited to Maxine Waters and the guy from Texas.
They have been saying this since 2 days after he was elected.
How many times has the media have said this since President Trump has been elected? I would say once a month every month since he has been elected.
I agree have no confidence that the Senate would acquit.Anyone that knows the history of the Republicans vs.Democrats knows that the Republicans have caved time and time again. And the Senate is filled with anti Trumpers and never Trumpers. Plus the Republicans hate President Trump more that the Democrat. The Senate might vote to acquit, but I would not count or depend on it.
I think you underestimate a 70 year old multi-billionaire. Its kind of like the many posts here on FR about warning young bucks not to mess with old dudes who are packing. They are too old to mess with fighting you...theyll just shoot you.
I agree.
You know them too, eh.
Someone did an analysis earlier and concluded that there were at least 38 reliable Trump Senate votes. If true there will be no impeachment conviction for removal - need 67 votes. A five vote cushion. I think the analysis makes sense.
Like the landslide that elected Republicans in 2018? If voter fraud is not dealt with the Republicans can forget about being elected, unless the Democrats want them elected. For a “loyal opposition”. A/k/a whipping boy.
Turtle and Ryano aren’t going to recess. They will hold pro forma sessions right up until the new takes over in January.
My problem is how many RINO’s in the Senate will go along with the dimoKKKRATS in the House?
I hope that is correct, but I would not depend on it. But in the end it is what the people who say that they are for Constitutional Government or that support the Constitution does that matters.
Mr. Trump has already announced for reelection. An impeachment would simply trigger a Trump campaign tour - to states with Republican senators who might be in doubt about that. The Constitution doesnt forbid someone who has been impeached and convicted from running for another term.No Republican senator can have any thought of electing a Republican president other than Trump in 20 - and neither can their constituents. Voting to convict would be voting for a reprise of 74, after the Nixon resignation. And the only people who want that are Democrats. Not even RINO will describe it.
The House Democrats are talking impeachment on a putative Campaign Finance Reform violation. Not only is the alleged violation smaller than what Obama did and received a civil penalty, it is even a stretch to call what Trump did a violation at all. And dont get me started on the question of the alleged constitutionality of CFR in principle (McCain-Feingold only got by its SCOTUS challenge by a vote of five to four. Even Justice Kennedy didnt like it, but OConnor put it over the top).
I agree.
“Enough is enough”
That is our call.
The words “President” and obama should never be used in the same chapter, let alone paragraph or sentence.
I don’t see any upside political future-wise for any GOP senator to vote for a Trump impeachment conviction.
Americans did not put Nan back in charge. It was America haters and traitors, aided and abetted by useful idiots who did that.
Fort Sumter 2.0.
Good lord, the crap I read on the internet!
You seriously believe all Republican Senators voted for Hillary?! Eye-yii-yii, Lucy.
Without a rock solid case of proven criminal activities, the GOP Senators will NOT vote to remove Trump from office (alright, a couple of romneyesque goofballs might, but just a couple).
The majority of GOP Senators are from red states and every single one of those senators would be committing political suicide to vote against Trump on wispy impeachment charges. Not one of them is eager to fall on their sword for the deep leftist state. They'd have to get a real job if they did.
I think the Dems will come up short on any impeachment effort, but even if they succeed there is no chance of conviction and removal in the Senate without solid proof of a major crime.
