A married mother of two and meteorologist for Fox 2 Detroit died by suicide, the station said Thursday.

Jessica Starr, 35, who lived in Novi, Michigan, is survived by her husband, Dan, and her two children, a 5-year-old son named Noah, and a 3-year-old daughter named Riley, the Springfield News-Sun reported. The station did not provide more details about her death.

Prior to her death, Starr spoke out publicly about her recovery from Lasik surgery, which she had done in October. She was out of work for several weeks and struggled with dry eye following the procedure, reported the Detroit Free Press.

Starr posted a video on her Facebook page on Nov. 13 explaining her absence. She announced that she was back at work but still in the recovery process and dealing with blurry vision.

I am with you libstripper. I am sorry this lady did this but the real victims are the loved ones she leaves behind. I feel more for them.

Why is pointing out the agony of those left “Puritan judgement?”

We need to tell the truth. Suicide is devastating to those you leave behind. The suicidal need to acknowledge this.

Yes it takes both.

You can get it from Zhou as K2+D3, 5000 IU of D3 and 90 mcg of K2 Mk-7 taken twice per day.

I just wonder if Ms. Starr was taking some sort of medication, perfectly legitimately, and a side effect got her. There are an awful lot of meds which list suicidal thoughts as a possible side effect, and sometimes the onset can be abrupt and intense.

Her condition was correctable with surgery.

That’s because money, fame and beauty doesn’t lead to happiness. God, love and family does. You can have all of the first but without the second you have nothing. Have all of the second and none of the first and you can still find happiness.

You’ve got that right, for sure! But money can cover up misery for awhile at least.

It gets worse when you lose hope for the future (that you’ll ever find anyone else, etc.)

Yah. I'm there now. Divorce

Ah, why did you not cite psychiatric cases?

Sorry, my friend and classmates personal records isn't "open source"

You won't believe them if I could post them.

We need to tell the truth. Suicide is devastating to those you leave behind. The suicidal need to acknowledge this.

The suicidal only know of their own mental torment, and in the vast majority of suicides, it is those who suffer from bi-polar disease or chronic ,suicidal depression for whatever reason.....and you should thank God you don't suffer from it.

All the negative comments about the death of this poor soul goes against every belief I have in God, which are limited to God Himself.

What is one of the tenants of the bible? Compassion! I don't see compassion whatsoever from the hypocrites who would criticize and condemn the actions of a clearly tormented child of God....

These people sicken me and further enforces my belief that religion is merely a cult of followers who want to feel good at the end of their Sunday church services.........

If anyone wants to see the true nature of the so called Christians on this site, threads dealing with suicide brings out the worst........

That's all I'm going to say about that.

The one took his life was back in high school, another was living in California and I hadn’t seen since our twentieth class reunion. My best friend is in Carolina and I talk to him on the weekends.

My new friend’s husband killed himself before I knew her.

Sorry I’m not omniscient.

All you can say is “if you do, I’ll hate and loath you forever”?

"Indifference" isn't hate. Had this woman not killed herself and instead endured her condition like millions of people do daily(as some FReepers have posted with the same problem) I could offer my sympathy and if I knew her I would help her as best I could.

But no, she thought only of herself and took the easier way out. My sympathies for the living she left behind to endure.

Did my LASIK 16 years ago.

I went with the doctor that literally “wrote the book” on LASIK.

Cost me $3,800, but I had zero problems.

Go to the place in the mall where you pay $200 per eye and you get what you pay for.

While I can certainly believe that some suicidal know only their own mental torment, I know not all of them do.

I have known too many that have aimed their grisly deaths AT people as a punishment. I know a woman who hung her self RIGHT where her grandchildren arrived every morning.

Now not all do that of course.

It’s not necessarily an either/or proposition. I can feel empathy for a suicide. But not at the exclusion of the many victims they leave behind. They are too often brushed aside or sometimes even blamed. It’s cruel.
