Defying fierce opposition from the United States and a few other nations, nearly 85 percent of the countries at the U.N. agreed Monday on a sweeping yet non-binding accord to ensure safe, orderly and humane migration.

The debate over the Global Compact for Migration, the first of its kind, has proven to be a pivotal test of the U.N.-led effort to crack down on the often dangerous and illegal movements across borders that have turned people smuggling into a booming worldwide industry.

“Unregulated migration bears a terrible human cost: a cost in lives lost on perilous journeys across deserts, oceans and rivers; and a cost in lives ruined at the hands of smugglers, unscrupulous employers and other predators,” U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres told a migration conference in Marrakech, Morocco.

“More than 60,000 migrants have died on the move since the year 2000,” he said. “This is a source of collective shame.” …

The majority of UN nations voted against the U.S. moving our Embassy to Jerusalem, including England, France, and Germany. And I hope they suffer greatly for their hatred, and betrayal.

Mission of the UN is for third world countries to sack the treasuries of wealthy countries. As the wealthiest country, the U.S. is number one. The UN is also concerned with funding its own inefficient corrupt bureaucracy.

Just demonstrating that a lot of other nations want to play the role in the UN that the USSR vacated.

I wonder how many of the 85% are net exporters, and of the 15% importers?

If you look closely, the backers are the “From” nations, while those opposing are the “To” nations.
Any “To” nation that backs this atrocity is committing suicide.

"Defying fierce opposition from the United States and a few other nations, nearly 85 percent of the countries at the U.N. agreed Monday on a sweeping yet non-binding accord to ensure safe, orderly and humane migration."

A glaring example of why you can not believe AP and the other globalist news organizations. So how does it ensure safe migration if it is nonbinding? Well, the immigration lawyers in countries across the world will get to work finding sympathetic judges to MAKE IT BINDING!

Just a few nations: the US, Australia, Israel, Switzerland, Austria, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria and I probably left some out.

"So 85% of the nations of the world want to dump their problems on the 15%?"

How very true sir!!

“Nearly 85 percent of UN nations back migration deal; not US”

And probably 85 percent of UN nations will send their undesirables to other countries.

1. Most of UN members are tiny poor countries. Nothing done to address this will cost them anything.

2. The entire UN is about making developed countries transfer wealth to small poor nations.

3. The US and the West pay most of the funds that operate the UN.

So sure, in numbers only 15% of nations oppose this. BECAUSE the 85% will pay nothing toward dealing with the problem.
