During a recent interview, Tucker Carlson openly shared his opinions about President Trump, stating that the president is “not capable” and has not kept his promises. According to a Washington Post article, Carlson stated:
“His chief promises were that he would build the wall, defund Planned Parenthood and repeal Obamacare, and he hasn’t done any of those things,” Carlson said, adding that those goals were probably lost causes. Trump, he said, doesn’t understand the system, and his own agencies don’t support him.
“He knows very little about the legislative process, hasn’t learned anything, hasn’t surrounded himself with people that can get it done, hasn’t done all the things you need to do, so it’s mostly his fault that he hasn’t achieved those things.”
Carlson’s conclusion that Trump is “not capable” and that he has not kept his promises is overly- simplistic and easily refuted.
There are many points that discredit Carlson’s conclusions, some of which were referenced in the Chicago Tribune:
First, Trump promised to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He also promised to crush and destroy ISIS and is well on his way to doing so. Moreover, he promised to impose a travel ban on those countries that he deemed posed a terrorist threat to the United States and which the Supreme Court eventually upheld. Additionally, President Trump promised to appoint conservative judges and justices. Since taking office, he has appointed Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and countless other judges to the federal appellate courts. He also withdrew from the terrible Iran deal and has kept various promises with regard to trade.

I didn’t realize he was connected with the Daily Caller.
I think they do fine work, so Tucker has some saving grace.
Maybe we all do.
Today I sent an email to Faux News that after 20 years, I will no longer be watching Faux News.
I told them we already have PMSNBC and one crazy news team is more than enough for any Country.
Well Tucker, he’s done more than the 4 presidents before him. They, like all politicians talk a good talk but do nothing. They talked about putting our Embassy in Jerusalem, ALL 4 of them, BUT President Trump did, and he’s put people to work, that these jokers couldn’t do. WE PAID tariffs for our goods into war-torn countries to help them get back on their feet. Now President Trump thinks it’s time for them to pay tariffs for their good into our country. He’s done a lot of things, but you’re too busy finding fault to find what he’s done.
Tucker Carlson wouldn’t last an hour in Trump’s shoes. I don’t watch Fox any more.
Since Tucker spewed this last week, I wonder how much his ratings have tanked.
True. I have no more patience for these phony ‘never Trumper’s’ who don’t understand Constitutional government and how many people Trump has to fight.
You are as phony as he is.
Who does?
Tucker sees that Trump is functioning on a day to day basis, and he isn't attacking him as incompetent.
But can Trump achieve long term goals (Does any president?)? It remains to be seen.
*** He has met every committment he made to Israel. ***
38 billion. 38 billion. 38 billion.
Its hard to achieve the long term goals we all want without control of USSC & a majority of the federal courts. Everything Trump does big, little, trivial or important will be shopped to a friendly federal court. (And I mean EVERYTHING!) Trump needs a guaranteed 5-4 on the USSC which means he needs a 6-3 conservative-liberal breakdown. (I don’t trust Roberts! He’s likely to “grow” into another Kennedy if he hasn’t already!). We will soon have a major chunk of the federal courts but it will take time. Trump get a 2nd term and we miraculously get a Pence presidency (hopefully 2 terms) much of the train wreck we are headed for will be choked off. Unfortunately we conservative voters haven’t been much help. (Thinking Alabama & the midterms!) And yes I know it was the House we lost & the Senate does USSC & the courts! Losing the House means 2 years of mischief not progress with the best we can hope for is 2 years of stalemate legislation-wise.
Unfortunately the electorate is fickle!
I just finished "Art of the Deal." Trump has needed legislative/committee approval for every one of his projects. Once he gets that approval, he's damned effective at getting things done, but that approval is not a foregone conclusion and he's had to move on from numerous projects b/c of that as have many of his peers.
I think the FAR more important, relevant question is "Why the hell didn't the Republican-majority Congress get that project funded?" If they had passed funding and Trump sat on his hands, then I would agree it's his fault.
*** Good for you. Go vote for Cory Booker if that pleases you. Please get off this website ***
Everytime someone doesn’t fall into line with some individuals on FR’s, group think, the accusations, ad hominems, twisting of words starts.
It has gotten worse since I joined in 2000.
“...we wont get another chance...”
Agreed. President Trump is truly a once-in-a-lifetime personality. We need him to succeed.
Our historic struggle is that without a wall the next Democrat POTUS will very simply turn a blind eye to the border.
Many millions of non-skilled leeches will be given the right to vote and we shall never see another Republican majority ever again.
In total agreement with your comments.
Many on FR have taken me to task over my comments this morning but I, like you, care deeply and believe that Trump has slow danced with the Congress long enough.
He needs to display whatever leadership is required to demonstrate that he is serious. If that means shutting down the government, so be it.
The dems are going to make amnesty for all and forgiveness of school loans their call to arms next cycle, and win.
Trump needs to do what he said he would do...this is the hill to die on.
It’s a political website, so we should EXPECT it to be dominated by “groupthink” to a large degree. Would you sit there in 2016 and defend some @sshole who got on this website and told everyone to vote for Hillary Clinton? LOL.

You are the person who said “Go vote for Cory Booker if that pleases you”. Disagreeing with some of what President Trump has or has not done does not warrant your over the top reaction.
I assume it is meant to squelch any legitimate discussion.
You have it all wrong. I don't mind if someone has a disagreement with President Trump. In fact, I would encourage people on this website to have open and frank discussions about any and all issues in the news today. I've had my own occasional disagreements with Trump, and I haven't been shy about posting them here.
What put a burr up my @ss was the poster's comment that he's "one and done" if Trump doesn't meet his expectations on this issue. That's about as idiotic a statement you'll ever see here ... as if another candidate is going to rise from the ashes in 2020 to build that wall.
That's the ranting of a loser, in my humble opinion. It explains why this country is filled with people who just sit back and let their fellow voters run roughshod all over them.
