Trump floating Mark Meadows for White House chief of staff

President Trump has privately been floating the idea of replacing Chief of Staff John Kelly with Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), according to Axios.

The news outlet, citing three sources with knowledge of the matter, reported on Sunday that Trump has recently been asking many people about who he should name as his chief of staff when Kelly officially departs.

He's asked many of them what they think of Meadows, a North Carolina congressman who is currently the chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus. He's also reportedly mentioned three other people as other possible candidates.

Axios said it did not have information about those possible candidates.

Meadows was rumored as a possible chief of staff contender back in February. Other people on Trump's list of contenders now include Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney.

Washington Post reporter Josh Dawsey tweeted that a White House official with direct knowledge confirmed Axios' report to him.

The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.

That’s probably why we have 435 representatives in the House and 100 senators in the Senate... No one gets anything done alone! Sure are a lot of FReepers who would like nothing more than to see each Republican in Congress act as dictators. Can you get anything accomplished when fighting hundreds of others with different opinions?

No!! WE NEED MM WHERE HE IS!!

There are plenty of people in non-critical positions to draw from. Admiral Rogers. Victoria Toensing. Dan Bongino. (Oh, please, God ... let it be Dan Bongino! In Jesus’ name, Amen.)

The Chief of Staff is an office position, although extremely demanding and must be outgoing...because it carries a lot of weight...it isn’t for everyone. THOSE, who are extroverts and usually politicians would not be happy there!

Why again is Kelly leaving?

Because the working relationship between him and the President is irretrievably broken.

Mulvaney is my first choice.

Mulvaney has said he doesn't want it.

So the media says he's being considered for the Chief of Staff spot and you believe that. And then the same media reports Mulvaney saying that he doesn't want it and you ask why we should believe it?

I don’t believe anything the media says!

They only way I would believe he’s leaving because of disconnects with Trump is if Kelly or Trump or both say it.
And that’s only if I heard them live!

Trump tends to hire people to do a job. If the job is done its time for them to go. Trump brought Kelly in to tighten up WH office discipline & stop leaks. If Kelly accomplished that I could see he & Trump mutually deciding its done, time to move on. However I don’t know! Past is somewhat insightful regarding the future but its not an exact prediction.
