Trump floating Mark Meadows for White House chief of staff
The Hill ^ | 12/09/18 | Justin Wise

President Trump has privately been floating the idea of replacing Chief of Staff John Kelly with Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), according to Axios.

The news outlet, citing three sources with knowledge of the matter, reported on Sunday that Trump has recently been asking many people about who he should name as his chief of staff when Kelly officially departs.

He's asked many of them what they think of Meadows, a North Carolina congressman who is currently the chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus. He's also reportedly mentioned three other people as other possible candidates.

Axios said it did not have information about those possible candidates.

Meadows was rumored as a possible chief of staff contender back in February. Other people on Trump's list of contenders now include Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney.

Washington Post reporter Josh Dawsey tweeted that a White House official with direct knowledge confirmed Axios' report to him.

The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.

That's what I was thinking.

Another potential Sessions debacle losing a safe seat.

No more high-stake risks.

“Could Darrell Issa do the job?”

Yes, if the job requires someone to fold like a deck of cards.

LOL...Not sure McCarthy would be loyal to Trump! A Congressman seems wrong pic for Chief of Staff, different personalities! Kelly was Military, and that job needs constant organization and dedication!

He’s tried that for President Trump. The states wouldn’t cooperate.

Ditto that. Mulvaney is a very bright guy who is an excellent communicator. I think he would do the best job of managing the administration to help clarify and focus messaging. Which gets off track, every once in a while. Right on to Mulvaney!
