I agree. I thought Franken stole the election and I disagreed with him on every opinion, but I supported him in this. My guess was that he fell on his sword to get Trump to bow out of the election in a sort of, “See! We democrats take this seriously!” sort of way.

He stole that seat fair and square, and it's an outrage he should lose it for such a reason!

#3 He stole the election in Minnesota when some “missing” box of ballots were found in northern Minnesota when the recount was not going his way. The democrats committed voter fraud then as they did in many states this last election.

Even as in the larger society, the left has a two tiered system of social justice. While some can be discarded as yesterday’s news, others are forgiven, or at least their misgivings are ignored.
