Now that Democrats will soon control one branch of Congress, President Trump is again signaling that infrastructure could be an area of compromise. We agree, but if the president wanted to earn Democratic support in the Senate, any infrastructure bill would have to include policies and funding that help transition our country to a clean-energy economy and mitigate the risks the United States already faces from climate change.
For too long, Congress has failed to act in a meaningful way to combat the threat posed by climate change.
Its impossible to overstate the urgency with which America needs to confront climate change. Even the Trump administration, which officially denies humankinds role in climate change, released a report last month outlining its current impacts and warning of dire consequences in the near future. Without drastic intervention, more powerful storms, floods and fires, as well as billions of dollars in damage to our economy, await the next generation of Americans.
Two weeks ago, I was blessed with the birth of my first grandchild. I want him to grow up and grow old in a world thats safe and healthy a dream I know every American has for their children and grandchildren. In the next Congress, Democrats have to force the issue. An infrastructure bill in the new Congress could be one of the first opportunities we get. We intend to take it.

That’s part of it too. But the fuel taxes are what sparked all this.
not a peep from candidates during the entire mid-term campaigns (leaving out Ocasio-Cortez)... then nothing but gloBULL warming from the Dems ever since.
what a bunch of hypocrites.
Republican ad: “Tell your representative to stop holding your roads and bridges hostage to climate scare ideology.”
We have to answer these global warming science denying nutcases with three simple words: Grand Solar Minimum. That’s what is effecting the weather these days. And it’s a scientific fact. Look it up. The Grand Solar Minimum. Every Republican should be using this language, and every conservative talk-show host. It should be proclaimed on the mountain tops. There should be a major documentary done about it.
I’m fine with Schumer on this one. Trump’s ‘Infrastructure Plan’ was way too heavy on toll roads, particularly the horrific kind that are privately financed and operated, yet still given monopoly protection from the government.
If I never hear the word “Infrastructure” again out of this administration, maybe I will buy the camper I’ve been thinking about, as it means I won’t have to pay an extra $1.00 per mile to drive it.
The hell with Chuck the Schmuck, if Trump doesn’t get what he wants, he should veto every bill that comes before him. Let the country see a do-nothing House.
Schmucky trying to ‘get down wit duh schtrugga’ for global cooling, glowbull warming, climate change, and challeging God’s design and weather control. The Hopium Withdrawal is strong with this one who believed that simply electing a Marxist in 2008 instantly would have changed the ocean’s levels.
I think Chuckie just put PA, OH and MI firmly into the Trump camp in 2020.
Those ignorant dumb “A$$ ” will not give up easily, at least not until they freeze their butts off, and I believe we are not too far away from this time.
Addressing the issue - Climate change is as big a crock as Schumer is.
Like macron and the others, he just wants to be able to tax air and water. If they were able to tax “ugly”, he would be in deep trouble personally.
DACA ...
I mean immigration .....
I mean citizenship for dreamers .....
I mean the wall .....
I mean Planned Parenthood .....

Awwwww ... STFU, schmuckie.
Can someone with better math skills than I validate this?
The US produces 5.14 billion tons of carbon per year. An acre of forest can absorb 100 metric tons of carbon per year. There are 1.023 million acres of forest in the US.
Shouldn’t that cover our carbon issue?
In fact, previous generations of state sovereignty-respecting Supreme Court justices had clarified Congresss limited powers as follows.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
"The smart crooks long ago figured out that getting themselves elected to federal office to make unconstitutional tax laws to fill their pockets is a much easier way to make a living than robbing banks." me
"Federal career lawmakers probably laugh all the way to the bank to deposit bribes for putting loopholes for the rich and corporations in tax appropriations laws, Congress actually not having the express constitutional authority to make most appropriations laws where domestic policy is concerned. Such laws are based on stolen state powers and uniquely associated stolen state revenues." me
So by pushing a constitutionally indefensible excuse to appropriate federal taxes, post-17th Amendment ratification Sen. Schumer is trying to unconstitutionally expand the already unconstitutionally big federal governments powers.
When the shoe is on the other foot, the Dims call what they want to do on the infrastructure issue as partisan “obstruction”, AND they get the media to carry that line 24/7/365 as well. When they do it they consider it “patriotic” and so will the media.
They are of the Left.
It is no different that when Macron laid out his lying distiction between nationalism and patriotism, denigrating the former for the latter.
Why? Because on the Left, where ever it is, if it is part of THEIR agenda it’s “patriotic”.
We won’t let you give us what we want unless you also give us more stuff that we want at the same time.
Perfect example of why it makes no sense to even try dealing with these people. Just ignore them is the best approach. If that means nothing at all gets done, so be it.
I agree with him. ALL Federal building should be torn down and trees planted on those sites that are not too contaminated.
Didn’t Obama revamp our infrastructure...and the grid?
Gov,and super trains?
Solynra wasn’t the only “green” company to scam the tax payers.
