The Week ^ | December 6, 2019 | Matthew Walther

Posted on 12/06/2018 5:15:33 PM PST by C19fan

Remember when half of American white males over the age of 40 declared themselves for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016? There were so many candidates that they couldn't fit them all on two packed debate stages. One guy stayed in after receiving a grand total of 12 votes in the Iowa caucuses; in New Hampshire, Jim Gilmore's showing improved to 133, an unprecedented 1,000 percent increase. Reader: He didn't withdraw for another six days.

Ted is getting his social feet.

He said “One night, after the Kavanaugh hearings, I was reflecting as I gazed into the fireplace... and watched my HS yearbook burn” LOL

Anyone could try. Unseating an incumbent is pretty hard and expensive. Plus the bully pulpit is owned by the president. Wonder if the donors really need to throw money away that badly?

Hypothetically, how many Trump supporters do you think someone like that establishment insider hack would garner?

2020 hinges more on the existence, or non existence, of the wall.

Ain't that the truth.

Kasich and Flake will probably do it for ego reasons.

Ted Cruz won't run. He owes his seat to Trump now.

So long as there are only 5 losers, they will fit in a clown car.

Ted Cruz is young enough to wait through Trump’s second term and two terms of the next person, and even then he’ll be younger than either President Trump or Mrs. Clinton was i.n 2016. He’s too smart to try running against President Trump again, and why would he? They are allies now.

Sasse is also young. he can wait.

The other three are likely to do it.

Flake won’t run.

Sassy’s Senate seat will be up in 2020. He will find himself without a job if he runs.

Zero chance Cruz will run unless Trump doesn’t.

McMuffin won’t run. His neocon Don King will have lost his webzine and what little influence he had in 2016.

Kasich, I think, will run. He believes his path is through open primary states, but the Democrat field will be wide open, so he won’t get many operation chaos votes against Trump.

He might run as an independent and could swing the election to the Democrats if they nominate Biden. If they nominate Warren or another strident communist, he could give Trump a landslide win.

Any of these “challengers” would be mere appetizers for The Donald on his way to reelection.

In 2020? Approximately zero.
In 2024? Well, since Democrats will be running an outright Bolshevik, I’d say he’d get most.
