The trio had gone together to a party in Ensenada on Friday and were supposed to return that same night.4
A Tijuana police detective told Gomezs family that the three teens were tortured before they were shot Sunday, Garcia said.
There was no initial indication of what might have led to the brutal killings.
According to Tijuana media reports, gunfire erupted around 5 a.m. Sunday at the Lomas Verdes housing complex in south-central Tijuana. When police arrived, they found three young men dressed only in their underwear lying dead in front of an apartment door.
An initial investigation suggested a group of armed men had forcibly moved the three teens at gunpoint, made them kneel and shot them each in the head, according to Tijuana news site Punto Norte.
Gomez was born and raised in San Diego and was not well-traveled, his cousin said, adding that hed been to Mexico only once before, when their families traveled together in 2016 to visit other family members in Morelia, the capital of the central state of Michoacan.
According to his family, Gomez had headed out Friday with Suarez-Ojeda, who was dating Gomezs sister. Joined by the Tijuana teen, the trio apparently made it to the barbecue in Ensenada, according to those who were there. But the San Diego teens did not make it back to the U.S. that night as expected.
The Tijuana teen reportedly called his mother early Saturday and told her they were safe but had lost their cellphones, Garcia said. That was the last anyone heard from the group.
Family members contacted Baja California authorities and frantically searched for the missing teenagers over the weekend, Garcia said. On Sunday night, Tijuana police told them about the three bodies found outside the Lomas Verdes apartment.

yea TJ and the donkey suc%ers are not good folks
I was being facetious because Gun Control works so well.
As an aside, when I was a Kid in the early 60’s, my Parents would take us to TJ and my older Brother and I would take off on our own goofing off and buying Fireworks. The people there were nice and friendly.
We did sneak peeks at the “Naked Lady” Posters outside the Nudie Bars though, just like they had in San Francisco.
Not a worry and that was before Mexico passed restrictive Gun Control Laws like the United States did in the 1968.
What were teenagers doing at a party in Mexico? Who thought that was a good idea?
I used to go to T.J. all the time in the 80s and 90s. You could catch a flight out of there to anywhere in Mexico round trip for $200. Id buy a cheap ticket to San Diego, catch the trolly down to the border, cross on foot and catch a cab to the airport. It was much less expensive than any direct flight from the U.S.
Probably trained by the FBI to establish a Document and Evidence Destruction Department, an Assassination Department, and a Public Information Redirection Department.
Poor kid. Sounds like he was thoroughly American and thoroughly Americanized. I hope his spirit joins up with Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders and they all return someday to that shithole and thoroughly kick ass!
No sale....... the boys drug money was stolen and then they were killed
If you are in California, and you want to see Baja California, you don't stop in Tijuana. Ensenada is a bit of a drive, but it's not bad. It is a common destination for non-drug dealing American tourists.
Yes. Who knew that Boeing made airplanes without sound insulation? I guess it was an extra-cost option.
bump
If he was searching for his Roots, he found it.

FAKE NEWS!!!
I understand now. We are about same age. I remember those days well in early 1960s living in South Texas. As a boy I didn’t know which mexicans in South Texas were legal vs illegal. I would watch them build houses where they spoke spanish. However in stores and what-not everyone spoke english.
One of my best friends in Jr. High was mexican and we got along very well. He spoke proper english and adopted our customs. I also don’t remember that much violence like we have today. At 13 our moms drove and dropped us off in the woods to hunt.
In 1968 I sold magazines door to door as a teenager and went through all parts of New Orleans including the projects. I tried to sell these magazines to people of all ages and races. I saw the insides of their apartments and homes. There was never any problems. Can’t imagine doing that today.
Was then, and is now even more, probably. 2,000 murders there last year.
