A Texas appeals court upheld the conviction of green card holder Rosa Maria Ortega for voter fraud on Wednesday, cementing a sentence of eight years in jail and a likely deportation.
Ortega, a mother of four, reportedly thought she was able to vote because she was a permanent resident. She voted five times between 2004 and 2014 once for the attorney general, Ken Paxton, who later prosecuted her, according to her attorney. She also reportedly served as a poll worker.
"She doesn't know. She's got this [green] card that says 'resident' on it, so she doesnt mark that she's not a citizen, her attorney told the Washington Post said. "She had no ulterior motive beyond what she thought, mistakenly, was her civic duty."
Prosecutors said that Ortega had correctly told authorities she was a resident alien on a driver's license form, while incorrectly checking the U.S. citizen box for the purpose of voting, undercutting her claims that it was an innocent mistake.

What the hell does having four kids have to do with her crime, or her sentence?
>>once for the attorney general, Ken Paxton, who later prosecuted her, according to her attorney.
did she ever vote in a primary?
did she ever vote for John Kerry, Barack Obama, or Hillary Clinton?
lies by omission are lies
The kids are mentioned because she is likely to be deported... to gin up sympathy, I guess.
What the hell does having four kids have to do with her crime, or her sentence?

With six you get eggroll.
Excellent .. now for about 500,000 more just like it.
“What the hell does having four kids have to do with her crime, or her sentence?”
****
For sympathy obviously. Too bad I lost my small violin..
Mentioning the four kids is to bring out boo hoo girl is what. .
She’s a Vagina-American, so she deserves a pass on any punishment, or so we’re told.
It’s only been in recent years that this notion that voting fraud is rare has been pushed. Those with long memories know that Democrat voting fraud is legendary. Even as far back as the 1960s the rule was Republicans had to make up millions of “votes” just to break even in the popular vote. Lots of people point to the Kennedy vs. Nixon election of 1960 and Chicago, but Illinois alone wasn’t enough. “Landslide Lyndon” helped deliver Texas, and I seem to recall reading something about West Virginia.
Voting fraud should be a capital offense, or near enough.
Illegals are the only people with children, according to the media
And then the Dims say we don’t need a voter ID. This story is probably super widespread.
Because she is about to be separated from her kids by the evil Orange Man and we simply cannot have that. She MUST be freed! We can NEVER separate a Mom from her kids. It's barbaric.
Documents show that Ortega was brought to the United States as a baby and received
a green card when she was a child, which does not mean she’s a United States citizen.
“Prosecutors showed the jury proof that Ortega illegally registered to vote in 2002 and
voted in four elections in Dallas County,” a statement from Paxton’s office stated.
“The prosecutors established that when Ortega moved from Dallas County to Tarrant
County in 2014, and correctly indicated she was not a U.S. citizen on her voting
registration form, the county informed her in writing that she was ineligible to vote.
“Nevertheless, Ortega applied to vote again, this time falsely insisting she
was a U.S. citizen. She illegally voted five times between 2004 and 2014.”
If she is too STUPID ( which she isn’t...she’s just a damned LIAR and a criminal ! ) to believe that she could vote as a “legal resident”,but not a “CITIZEN”, then she is far too STUPID to be allowed to vote!
pity party
“Texas woman with four children gets eight years in jail for voter fraud..:”
Excellent...two years for each turdlet.
If she bothered to think a second, “resident” and “citizen” are 2 different words with different definitions. Right there she shows lack of concern about being in the USA, no regard for even trying to get to know laws or proper guidelines, but instead feels she can make up her own mind on what things mean and what she can entitle herself to do.
You’re supposed to feel sorry for her.
Just a “likely” deportation?
