Final election tonight in Mississippi for the US Senate and a few House races.
State House run offs involved Democrats.
Didn’t garner the national attention the Senate race did.
I do acknowledge your points here and agree with you. The problem is multi-faceted. Not only does there need to be a wall, but e-Verify needs to be made mandatory. New employees filing out paper I-9’s in HR like it was still pre-desktop computer 1986 when the form was created and then just sticking it in a file drawer in HR is ridiculous in 2018 to the point of absurdity.
I’m for giving employers a year’s amnesty to come clean on any iffy I-9 documentation by self-reporting bad I-9’s with no fear of prosecution, then after that, mandatory e-Verify and prosecute offending employer personnel and managers/owners.
Cut off the lure of jobs and 80% of this issue goes away. The other 20% is birth tourism for anchor babies and welfare fraud gambits.

Yes, we have to either reduce immigration or use a merit-based system that brings in a higher percentage of skilled, high-income people who aren’t looking for free stuff from democrats.
But the illegal immigrant vote is big in some regions of America, mainly CA and the Southwest (possibly 3 million illegal votes throughout the US). Votes by illegal immigrants could easily cost us several House seats in CA and the Southwest and a few senate seats in the Southwest. That could tip control of the House or Senate to the democrats some day, and if the problem is even bigger than I think, it may have just handed control of the House to the democrat party. In a close election, it could also cost us the White House.

Exactly. The whole “illegal immigration is bad, legal immigration is good” mantra is perhaps the dumbest and most demographically destructive mindset and policy approach adopted by Republicans since the time of Reagan.
If Republicans had any sense on the issue they would have rejected the 1990 Immigration bill that increased legal immigration even above the levels unleashed by the 1965 bill. If they were actually smart on the matter they would have taken up Harry Reid’s calls in the early and mid 1990s to undo the 1965 bill and reduce legal immigration by two-thirds. They would have passed the un-neutered version of the Smith-Simpson bill in 1996 and dared Clinton to veto it.
There were many opportunities to undo the 1965 bill and significantly reduce legal immigration. It was a bipartisan goal as recently as the 1990s.
Now I’m not so sure it can be done. When voting on immigration reform Amendments earlier this year in the Senate, the only good Amendment that sought to reduce legal immigration got just 38 or 39 votes. That’s it. Maybe now that number is a bit over 40, but still far short of the 60 that would be needed to invoke cloture. Who knows if it would have passed the House because Ryan never put it up for a vote, but there will be no mystery when Pelosi retakes control next year,

This is what happens when you don’t have things like early voting, Absentee voting. This is what happens when you don’t have time to plan busing in voters from all over. When you don’t have time to generate fake ballots, and round up illegal voters. And a bunch of other things.
You get a totally different election.
If something is not done about it the republicans won’t win anything next time during the normal rigged elections.

It’s what he was planning to do - be McStain II, a thorn in Trump’s side. His vote is meaningless now. He has no power. With Murkowski and Collins getting on board the never-Trump train with Mittens driving, you get a 50-50 split in the Senate and Pence breaks the tie. Hence, Mittens is neutered.
Hyde Smith overperformed relative to the polls. A win is a win and its a sweet note to end a tough year.
