President Donald Trump on Monday afternoon proposed the creation of a new, United States-funded television network to compete with CNN globally.
“While CNN doesn’t do great in the United States based on ratings, outside of the U.S. they have very little competition,” Trump tweeted. “Throughout the world, CNN has a powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair.... and false way. Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!”
The president has had a rocky relationship with the network and recently revoked the hard press pass of CNN Chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta. A federal judge later ruled in favor of the network after CNN filed a federal lawsuit. Acosta has since regained access to the White House.
Acosta's press pass was suspended earlier this month after he engaged in a contentious back-and-forth with President Trump during a press conference. Acosta refused to pass the microphone to a female White House aide and there was brief contact between the two. Later in the day, the White House revoked Acosta’s credential.
CNN filed the subsequent suit against the Trump administration, demanding the White House restore the star reporter's press pass, a move White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders labeled “more grandstanding from CNN.”

BTW - Something is off with TRUMP. Since he backed off before the elections on releasing the um-redacted n otes, emails, 502’s, all the other info the house committee’s wanted released on the coup attempt and the sedition and the rest of the time during and since the election he has LOST the luster he had before! Frankly, so has the MAGA movement. We missed the window, the moment on the timeline and will be fighting off lies the entire next two year all over again.
The dems and the deep state won I hate to say...pessimistic...guess you can say yes because I have seen this before and they never loose nor do they ever pay...not in my life time have they...and I was in my teen when they got away with JFK and and TRUMP has rolled on that one too!!!!
I agree, no Fedgov funded central network. The Rinos had their chance to eliminate or limit funding of Nation Public Radio (founded by Congress, but private non-profit) and/or Public Broadcasting Service (private non-profit, also) unless they become more balanced. Not sure, but I think some funding was reduced during W's term for one of them.
No more Fedgov bureaucracies! Sorry Mr. President, don't go there.
Mr Trump start giving exclusive interviews and access to OANN and turn them into a big enough network to challenge CNN.
The last I knew, yes. However, it exists to entertain and inform the military about military matters. I wouldn't want to see it expanded into politics.
No we don’t want some a government owned station spreading more liberal lies abroad, e.g. NPR. It needs to be privately owned. Someone rich like Trump needs to make it happen.
That sounds encouraging. I've been meaning to find their availability on radio or tv. Any suggestions?
How about a news network with NO talking heads? I want FACTS 24/7 along with the source for those facts, and the first time I hear an adverb or adjective being used, I want them removed from the air for expressing an opinion and not a fact.
I want reporters, not journalists! Is that too much to ask?

What would be the big deal of using that as a starting point? And using it effectively as a means to promote free speech as it pertains to real (not fake) news.

I agree with President Trump as usual.
He needs to tweet support for OAN. That would double the viewers overnight, and off they would go.
If they eventually reveal Acosta and others in the media are deep state operatives, will anyone be surprised?
There is already an alternative to CNN.

True. We need to overrun NPR/PBS. Bring in good talent — writers, producers, blacklisted actors, comedians, etc. Mimic that snooty PBS/NPR tone. Do some goods kids programming (like something based on Limbaugh’s childrens’ books) and documentaries. OAN is a good start for the news portion.
