McDaniel voters still not sold on Hyde-Smith. Here's why.

For the uninitiated, a lot of McDaniel fans feel they got screwed in former Sen. Thad Cochran’s re-election, when the Cochran-Barbour machine in Mississippi worked every conceivable angle to deprive McDaniel—who is regarded as a stauncher conservative but also was accused of racism and may even have appealed to some Mississippi voters as a result of it—of a win.

Subsequently, that same machine let a short time pass, Cochran exited the US Senate, and Hyde-Smith—a former Democrat who also has the backing of the same Mississippi GOP establishment—took his place.

[...]

Not only did Hyde-Smith used to be a Democrat; like her Democratic opponent, she reportedly has some big Clintonworld connections. He was a Cabinet secretary for Bill, by far the more Southerner-friendly of the pair. She, by contrast, has been reported by a McDaniel-friendly publication to have been in business with one “Umesh Sanjanwala, the father of a Hillary Clinton consultant.” (Fun tidbit: The business reportedly used a URL previously used by an occult-oriented firm that offered “services for communicating with the dead”; if you believe this report, Hyde-Smith may have been planning to use it for an online ministry).

The same report also indicates that as a lobbyist, Hyde-Smith worked for the National Coalition on Health Care, which has some pretty lefty members and is supportive of Obamacare—likely a deal-breaker for hardcore McDaniel fans.

The rumor among McDaniel folks is that Hyde-Smith voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic primary, a rumor that is basically reported as fact by this same pro-McDaniel outlet, and one that hasn’t exactly been put to bed by Hyde-Smith and her own comments on the topic.

I already voted for Scott in Florida even though I don’t care for him.

I done did my part, bwa.

If I choose not to care if Hyde-Smith wins or loses, then that is my choice, and you will just have to find a way to live with it.

Now you can bitch about it if you want, if that makes you feel better, I’m cool with that, but it’s pretty funny, I have to say.

GOP needs to wise up. Most of them are utterly pitiful.

So you rather have someone who has zero percent in agreement with you representing you? Rather than someone who has some agreement with you? Doesn’t make any sense.

I’m not a never Trumper.

But I do feel a bit of never GOP sentiment in me from time to time.

I’m very tired of incompetent, pitiful, weak GOP candidates.

Just a personal opinion.

I’m sick and tired of them.

it will be good to get this election behind us. at least it will shut up the “molest a teenager” voices, and the “legitimate rape” voices.

the irony is that if these people had their way, their would be 0 republicans in the senate -— but then there would be no one left to be irrationally angry at . . . at that is all they do.

What none of the McDaniel whiners on this thread will answer: How does having a 100% hostile Mike Espy, A CLINTON APPOINTEE, in power going to help republicans move along judicial nominations or do ANYTHING but play the race card at the drop of a hat? If you don’t want to vote for Hyde-Smith, fine, vote against Espy who is part of the Clinton machine.

I will NOT vote for someone who is against my principles MORE THAN she vote to support my principles.
Maybe in 2020 people in Mississippi will actually run a REAL conservative like Ted Cruz, Chris McDainel, and Mia Love !

Y'all wanna' keep putting up DemocRATS PRETENDING to be R.I.N.O.s, then I'll just stay at home.
I'm not voting against myself.
Y'all can, but I WON'T !

That right there should be in a campaign ad.

You either give Schumer one more vote in the Senate and against anything you hope the President can accomplish ... or ...

You give the President one more vote to pass his agenda. Or at least, get his judicial nominations through.

Seems like a pretty easy decision, even if she’s a bit of a trainwreck.

I'm not buying that babble either.
Next time in the primaries, if you was to win, then vote for a REAL and LIFE-LONG CONSERVATIVE !

Either one of those DemocRATS will be losers to me.
I will just wait until 2020, and then ... maybe ... Mississippi will come to its senses.

Well I live in AZ and voted McSally and she lost. Now we’ll have one D and one R. I know I would want someone who at least voted with the majority some of the time, rather than none.

You must care, as it increases our Senate majority and makes it easier to pass Trump’s judges. It also makes it more difficult for the dems to flip the Senate in 2020.

Follow Trump’s recommendation, and support her. Trump knows he needs her.

Whether she wins or loses, I’ll not mourn either way.

Regretfully, I feel pretty much the same way.

Are you kidding? With RBG at deaths door and Sotomyor right behind her we need every republican we can get. She loses and Mitt, Collins and Merkowski own the senate. If you loved Romney, you’ll love him controlling the senate

Look, when McDaniel go screwed, people had a remedy available: to vote for Childers. It is too late now to let a different Dem get in.

How come McDaniel didn’t get appointed in the first place instead of Hyde-Smith? That’s on the Gov in MS isn’t it?

Here, I’ll put it this way.

IF I lived in Mississippi, which I do not, I would vote for her.

Voting for her wouldn’t be much different than my vote for Scott, because I do not really care for him or about him either. In fact, I lean towards not liking him at all, because he’s weak.

But since I don’t live there, I find it hard to care about her fate honestly.

I’m really at a point where I am going to need considerably more from the GOP if they wish to continue to enjoy my support.

Outside of Trump, the GOP is garbage, and serves no actual purpose.

IF McDaniel had been caught in a Rebel hat and joking about public hangings you know darn well McConnell and the beltway boys would be throwing him under the bus as I type. But this lady plays for Team K Street and will be a reliable vote for McConnell’s progressive corportist agenda. So they will try to carry her over the finish line. That is a favor never afford a genuine conservative.
