Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith smilingly posed for a photo in 2014 while wearing a Confederate cap and holding a rifle, then put the image on her Facebook page with the words "Mississippi history at its best!"

That image, taken at a Mississippi museum, resurfaced Tuesday as AT&T, Leidos and Walmart joined two other companies, Union Pacific and Boston Scientific, in asking Hyde-Smith, a Republican, to return campaign contributions because of controversy over her recent jest about being willing to attend a public "hanging."

What Todd Akin said wasn't stupid. It was the latest scientific knowledge on endocrinal suppression of fertilization occurring during trauma. Todd Akin was correct in saying that women's bodies have ways of suppressing pregnancy in the event of rape. Todd Akin was specifically advised on this point by a medical doctor that was knowledgeable on this topic.

The media turned Akin's valid point into a mockery by refusing to address the real science behind it and by playing it up as ignorance.

You incorrectly blame "bad candidates", and you refuse to blame the actual cause. Cooperation between backstabbing Republicans and the UNIPARTY media weapon system that attacks reformers.
