No. I don’t think this is a healthy outlook moving forward. Republicans need to get their act together. Beto got a lot of votes in Texas. The Dems are putting up shinier candidates, and the public has proven willing to overlook their leftier elements.
I agree with you. This is no time for empty bravado. Most of us convinced ourselves that would do well this last election. We did not, the electorate is full of ingorants and scum who aren’t gonna just disappear. The President’s reelection is in serious jeopardy. We need to buckle down and figure out how to win rather than expecting it to happen just because.
The biggest problem that needs fixing is money pouring into red states from outsiders. Hollywood shouldnt be allowed to interfere in a Texas election.
And he got those votes running not as a "Texas" Democrat but as a "San Fransisco" Democrat. He didn't even pretend to be anything but far Left.
You're right. Democrats learned a lot of lessons in 2016 and applied them this time around. Republicans lost races they should have won and won by the slimmest margins races that should have been blowouts.
Obama could afford to lose 3.5 million votes between 2008 and 2012 yet still remain in the White House. President Trump can't afford to lose a single one. We need to up our game.
“Beto got a lot of votes in Texas.”
Perhaps we should deport Beto’s voter base.
Thats right - and Democrats have re-asserted state-level control of some states that were key flips for Trump in 2016, like Wisconsin. Trump may improve his popular vote performance or even win it outright, only to lose the Electoral College due to unpunished vote fraudsters.
