Democratic congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema has emerged victorious in Arizonas hotly contested Senate battle, helping her party make gains in the upper chamber of Congress.
Following a hotly contested race where both candidates lead in differing polls, Sinema Arizonas 9th Congressional District representative has defeated Republican congresswoman Martha McSally after nearly a week since Election Day.
The back-and-forth election saw both candidates take the lead at different times before the November elections. McSally trailed Sinema for much of the beginning of the campaign, but saw her numbers rise after Sinema a former activist against the Iraq and Afghanistan war dealt with numerous embarrassing headlines emanating from her past.
McSally originally led in the vote count. However, Sinema was able to rack up mail-in votes following Election, eventually surpassing her Republican opponent.
Before becoming a U.S. representative, Sinema was involved in numerous protests against the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, with some of her past actions resurfacing. In 2003, a group she co-founded distributed flyers that depicted U.S. soldiers as skeletons. During a radio interview in 2003, Sinema is on record saying she didnt care if Americans took up arms to join the Taliban. McSally, on the other-hand, was fiercely attacked for her vote in the House to repeal Obamacare, a law she has long criticized.
Well, Sean, I did vote to repeal and replace Obamacare on that House bill Im getting my ass kicked for it right now because its being misconstrued by the Democrats, McSally said in an interview with Sean Hannity in late October. The Human Rights Campaign 2018 Los Angeles Gala Dinner - Show

The Real Clear Politics average of polls gave McSally a one-point lead in the run up to Election Day. While all within the margin-of-error, three of the latest surveys included the RCP average showed McSally ahead.
The Associated Press called the election on Monday night.
McSally took to Twitter to concede and thanked her supporters.
I know that when we find someone who is law and order savvy, we tend to support them without reservation.
Hopefully, this can turn out to be a win for us.
A somewhat incongruous quote from the Wikipedia concerning McSally:
Personal life
McSally was married to Air Force officer Donald Frederick Henry from 1997 to 1999, before the marriage was annulled.[135][136] She is a triathlete.[4]
In April 2018, a Tucson man was sentenced to 15 months in prison for threatening to assault and kill McSally.[137]
(Were each other's beards with that Lt. Col)
The job of an Arizona voter is to ignore such as that and vote Republican anyway, the primary having been the primary. Arizonans failed.
Except when it came to Joe Arpaio. Arpaio was in it for the fame and notoriety. Maricopa Co is better off without him in office.
A ghostly, creepy cackle can be heard late at night echoing through the Arizonan deserts.
Those of us on connecting flights (from Tokyo) were getting the fine tooth comb go over and my wife even got an unopened bottle of water we were given near the end of the flight confiscated because . . . unlike me, she actually wanted to drink it rather than slip it into the checked baggage.
The few Somalis not staying near MSP, meanwhile, were ushered to a special connecting gate without going through customs.
Is it really winning when you cheat your way to the office? Emergency polling places were opened in Maricopa County. You could go there and vote and show no ID. There were door hangers put out by the Kyrsten Sinema team telling democrats about being able to go there and vote and show no ID.
If they take away our soapbox, if they take away our ballot box, theyre going to come after our ammo box.
“Also did not help that Ward and Arpaio did not endorse McSally, very disappointed in both of them
______________________________
Not true, Ward endorsed her via twitter and even cut a radio ad for her:”
This came too late. Ward needed to endorse McSally in September, not November. I follow both on FB and Ward’s explanation was McSally did not ask her to help out. Arpaio never posted anything.
Not really.
Here in NJ we’ve elected many GOP Governors, including recently, Christie twice.
We have never, as long as I can remember, elected a GOP Senator. Governors races are fairly meaningless. People view them very differently than federal appointments.
I don’t find this strange at all except in AZ in general where you’d think a DEM would never really flourish. But then again, they probably see her exactly as they saw McCain.
The state of Barry Goldwater? THIS Barry Goldwater?
1992: “Former Sen. Barry Goldwater, the father of modern conservatism and a Republican elder statesman, said Thursday that his party’s strict anti-abortion stance threatens to leave the GOP in shambles....”But abortion is not something the Republican Party should call for the abolition of, by legal means or by any other means.
“There is no way in the world that abortion is going to be abolished. It has been going on ever since man and woman lived together on this earth,” he said.”
As pointed out here:
Only in his final term did he adopt a pro-choice position, voting in 1983 against a constitutional amendment that would have reversed Roe v. Wade and returned legislative authority over abortion to the states. In 1984, he reversed his 1964 position by voting against a constitutional amendment to restore voluntary prayer to public schools. As late as 1985 he opposed “gay rights” legislation. Only in 1993, six years after leaving the Senate, did he change his view.

Goldwater led the way on making abortion acceptable to Arizonans! He turned pro-abortion when abortion wasn’t cool. And pro-homosexual rights!
“There has always been homosexuality ever since men and women were invented. I guess there were gay apes. So that’s not an issue. The Republican Party should stand for freedom and only freedom. Don’t raise hell about the gays, the blacks, and the Mexicans. Free people have a right to do as they damn well please. To see the party that fought communism and big government now fighting gays, well, thats just plain dumb. - 1993

Ought to add the Barry Goldwater conservatives admired in 1964 had little to do with the Barry Goldwater of 1984. He turned, and by turning, gave cover to Arizona liberals. He was McCain before McCain was McCain. And before McSally tried to be McCain.
“Kyrsten Sinema supports abortion up to birth, yea this really sucks”
It makes sense that anyone who celebrates witches, Pagans and Communism would also celebrate the death of the innocent. Her ideology is based on lies. Why anyone would ever vote someone like her into office is another question.
[Well, Sean, I did vote to repeal and replace Obamacare on that House bill Im getting my ass kicked for it right now because its being misconstrued by the Democrats, McSally said in an interview with Sean Hannity in late October]
Sounds like a real surrender monkey.
too quickly conceded.
payoff has to be coming.
she was establishment... my level of trust is at an all time low
That is what I heard!
She's the first bisexual, Taliban loving Senator
