When America's powerful pro-gun group told doctors to mind their own business, the response was swift, furious and viral.
"Unless you've had someone's heart stop beating in your hands, you don't get to tell those of us who have what is and is not our 'lane'," trauma surgeon David Morris, 42, told the BBC.
The National Rifle Association's tweet on Wednesday sparked anger.
It came just hours before a gunman killed 12 people in a California bar.
"Someone should tell self-important anti-gun doctors to stay in their lane," the NRA tweeted.

Re my #98 and why don’t doctors and the CDC do major studies on knife attacks/deaths in the U.S. besides doing them on guns.
Well, here is a great example of their hypocrisy and leftist stupidity. Wash. Post, Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, p. C3 - Metro section, “The District” “3 Knife attacks in 3 days; 3 arrests” - Data suggests roughly 350 assaults with blades in the city this year”.
“In the District, as elsewhere, many attacks in which a weapon is shown, or actually used, involve knives, as in three incidents here in the past three days”....
“So far this year, DC police data show 548 “dangerous weapon” assaults involving GUNS. Dangerous weapon assaults without guns number 889”.
Recent FBI figures indicate knives were used here in about 40 PERCENT of serious assaults without guns. Applying that ratio suggests that about 350 assaults in the District this year involved display or use of a knife”.
A pretty good, straight down the data, honestly written story. (a rarity in the Post).
COMMENT: We still have 45 days to go in the District re more crime. I can guarantee the crime rates will NOT GO DOWN. Watched “Chinatown” last night. As the cop friend to Jake said, “Forget it Jakes. It’s Chinatown”.
Here we say, about crime fighting and reduction, case solving rations, “Forget it pal, it’s DC” (where the criminals have all the weapons and their victims have all the funerals!).

How many people die in the USA every year from medical malpractice? Somewhere around 140,000. When these pompous ignorant jackasses get their own house in order then theyre entitled to an opinion. Until then f... em. And they can butt out of what they know NOTHING about

An average 60,000 drug deaths a year.
By far out trumps gun deaths. A lot
of these OD’s are brought on by a
Dr’s prescription.

If the shoes don’t fit, leave them in the store.
You can trust this old factory worker on this, but if it makes you FEEL better, check with a board-certified podiatrist. Betcha one payday of swapping paychecks you’ll get the same answer.

If 90% of Second Amendment supporters quit, doctors would be working solely for the government and living in poverty. They would be living in constant fear. They should feel relatively comfortable with more moral, reasonable people around them being armed, with the offspring of a couple of generations of their feminist divorce/cohabitation policies on the loose.

"All this 'lane' talk is a blatant appeal for shortsightedness no matter WHO does it. That sort of argument wont ever win. It shouldnt have ever been used by the NRA..."
The NRA will keep its membership numbers up and said what needed to be said for that purpose. Doctors and nurses are exposed to a torrent of feminist/homo-activist advocacy from universities and won't be convinced to listen to reason on conservative issues.

From the article:
"'No one knows gunshot wound death more intimately than forensic pathologists. We are literally qualified as experts on the subject. We have to speak out,' she [Dr Melink, San Francisco] commented on Monday."
That's a straw man from Dr. Melink. While they indulge in vanity, they know too little of logic, the history of nations and criminology. If their desire were fulfilled, we would all be in a far worse situation. They should mind their own business, and yes, stay in their lane. Maybe they could focus on the drug problems and social diseases in many of their peers.
As we see from the nature of politics today (the madness against the Trump Administration, the sideshow against Justice Kavanaugh, etc.), much more influence from professionals with PhD.s would put our nation in an unimaginable world of hurt.

If they want to do something about gun violence, they should concentrate on why POC want to kill each other so much.

Yep. Most real doctors I know are either NRA or otherwise staunch pro-gun.
With the way the Rats and commie media are getting friskier by the minute, anyone with a perfused brain ought to be very, very, pro-gun.

Along with that paycheck you are so bitter about goes the student loans 14 hour days including nights weekends and holidays and the responsibility of caring for peoples left ones at their most vulnerable. Oh and then you can give half of that paycheck back to uncle Sam in taxes. My hourly rate is less than that of lawyers or plumbers. A lot of us are conservative gun owners just trying to raise our families same as everyone else. So you might want to rethink some of the sarcasm and nastiness.

I was a Navy Hospital Corpsman. Spend my whole enlistment with the Marines. Fixed a lot of gunshot wounds. Fixed a lot of other stuff too.
So what? Never ocurred to me to blame the weapons.

Doctors should do the math.
How many people have been killed due to medical malpractice and Dr.'s mistakes compared to guns?

Inadvertently, both the NRA and the docs have illustrated the adage that “When all you have is a hammer, the whole world looks like a nail.”

You sound rather bitter yourself, but I’ll pass on drawing that conclusion.
