Dumped Attorney General Jeff Sessions is weighing a bid to win back his old Senate seat in Alabama, a report said.
Sessions, fired by President Trump a day after Republicans lost control of the House in the midterm elections, left the seat in 2017 when he was nominated to head up the Justice Department.
But Sessions could run against Democrat Doug Jones, who won a special election in December 2017 to fill the seat and is up for re-election in 2020, Politico reported late Wednesday.

Being an Ala resident, I will say this...most GOP folks can name at least five other state Republicans that they’d prefer ahead of Sessions (Mayor Battle, MO Brooks, Del Marsch, Luther Strange (yes, he might run again), Robert Adlehelt, and Arthur Orr.
I would suggest that Sessions is on the same list as Luther Strange....just not electible anymore.
Yes, I would vote for him. He was a GREAT senator. I never thought he should be AG, but as senator he was one of the best.
Ping to the state of Alabama list.
Sessions was a great Senator.
Was not the right pick for AG in this time.
I hope he runs again in Alabama.
He would have no problem winning.
They just can’t retire can they
“Hes proven what hes made of.”
Yes, last evening, in response to Little Yebbie’s yammering about Trump’s actions woth respect to Jim Acosta, one poster said that the only applicable adjective to Booshe’s actions was the word $hit! I would advance the notion that that same “descriptor” applies to Jeff Sessions, and that it would be a finger in the eye of every decent American Citizen, if Alabama were to return this POS to the U S Senate.
I don’t think he could beat Doug Jones at this point.
I think people in Alabama aren’t any more impressed with
his stint as AG than any of the rest of us.
That's a scary thought.
He was a good senator. That doesn’t mean he had any idea how to be an AG. But if he moved to Arizona and established residency, I’d vote for him over EITHER McSally or Sinema. And he’d be better than McCain or Flake dreamed of being.
“I think people in Alabama arent any more impressed with
his stint as AG than any of the rest of us.”
And yet, as you can see from some of the posts here from Alabamians, that even after his shameful “performance” as AG, would put him back in his old seat in the Senate. I submit to you that this kind of thinking by supposed conservatives is why we never quite get the job done. Being a U. S. Senator is a privilege, not a right. Jeff Sessions proved beyond all doubt that his is unworthy of that privilege any longer.
So thankful Perry Hooper wasn’t on your list.
“One thing we have seen in the last two years.
Sessions has no clue what is going on in the world.”
He was the best on immigration in the senate. His problem was he thought all long time federal employees were as honorable as he was even though they might disagree.
What’s his ad gonna be “Hi, I’m Jeff Sessions. I was the worst Attorney General in United States history, and now I want to go back to the Senate so I can do nothing THERE, too.”
You’re 109 years old, Jeff. Just go home, sit on the porch, and reflect on how much good you could have done the country if you had chosen to.
Are you sure? Trump wished him well and thanked him for his sacrifices. To get appointed as AG he likely had to promise to recuse as those under investigation cant prosecute their accusers. Maybe we should see how much evidence the silent executioner left for the acting AG to act on.
If nothing else he did much against MS13 and human trafficking. I will wait before condemning. If I am wrong I will join you.
Sessions should of never left the Senate to begin with, unless it was to work in some other role at the DOJ, where he could focus solely on immigration. He also had an earlier way out when he was offered the nomination to run against Doug Jones for his old seat. Sessions replacement as AG needs to be just as strong on illegal immigration, because we can’t afford to neglect any of the important issues considering how much time we’re already lost.
You know...everytime I’ve ever seen Perry Hooper (probably five or six times on some news piece or interviews)....he looks like some Alabama guy who went to Maceys-New York and bought a $1000 suit. I think he started out in life as an insurance guy, and his look/appeal....just gets me negative within 60 seconds. But I know that Trump has met the guy and has some liking of him.
Sessions was a solid conservative senator, a faithful executioner of the Trump immigration policy as AG, just not anything else.
If he wants to run for a senate seat again, go for it. None of us outsiders have too much of a say. Let the state decide if they want him to represent the state or not.
He’s a shoe in... Sadly has to wait until 2020, but no doubt he’d win his old seat back in a landslide.
Don’t these guys ever want to quit! Get a hobby!
You don’t win back a Senate seat, Democrats tried that in 2014 and it failed.
