Sessions deliberately stood aside and allowed the deep state coup plotters to get away with the most egregious crime in US history - all while leaving the President exposed to a heinous witch hunt that dogged his first two years in office.
The man doesn't deserve to be elected dog catcher of Podunk, Alabama.
Jeff Sessions had that offer already and at this point that offer is gone.
I agree Windy.
You misunderstand— he was a bad administrator, too long in the Beltway world- and thus eminently played by the little greaseball Rosenstein- but pragmatically, he could take this seat in a heartbeat (see his percentages for re-election in prior years) and be useful politically. Don’t misconstrue the notion of this with defending his poor performance as AG. He is, after all, just a pawn- the better to be “in place” in service to the Executive, who has remarkably re-written what constitutes a “Republican”. The devil we know IOW, in a position we could use, on the wave in 2020. Not that the Senate, per se, is a club of people of integrity (NJ re-elected freaking Menendez, a serious pedophile and grafter).
This was a time that demanded attention, scrutiny, and boldness, and we didn't get much of what was needed.
Trump's appointment of a successor will be one of his most important. Without resetting the AG well, we will drift instead of make headway.
