There is no way to disguise this disaster.
Disaster? When was the last time a president's party gained seats in the house in a midterm election? I'm thinking 2002 and 1998. Otherwise, it has only happened once since the Civil War (1934).
This is a typical ebb and flow of US national politics with a surprise in that the president's party added Senate seats.
