Gotta say, in 50 years of watching politics, I've never seen "the House" called before individual races for the House have been called.

We have 200 "Smith vs. Jones" races out there that haven't been tallied. LS

I don’t have a problem with people winning their primaries. I do think that house leadership took a squat running up to the election. Ryan and the retirements did a bad job preparing.

Sorry to say it, but Tucker was doing the same as the rest of them.

I just read a post about Olivia Wilde’s dem mom losing to a GOP candidate who’s into Bigfoot Erotica.

I’m hoping that’s fake news.

We'll see...The dems gave a preview of the behavior you described during Kav's hearing and Americans, especially women, were fine with it. Lapped it up, even. Michigan which has been creeping right took a hard left as well. Walker is down by a hair (.1%) in Wisconsin with the count going down to the wire. Pennsylvania smacked us as well. We need these states and they repudiated us tonight.

Senate gains, yes. We darn right better have gained in the senate considering the map...States like ND, MO, IN, should never have had a dem senator to begin with so it wasn't exactly shocking. I would feel a whole lot better about the next 2 years if we had held the House.

The trend just isn't with us.

You need to put things in context:

Obama, in his first mid-term election, lost 63 House seats and 6 Senate seats.

Trump has lost maybe 26 House seats, and GAINED Senate seats.

This bucks the historical trend for a mid-term election!

Agree totally on Ryan and the retirement flunkies screwing us. But someone at the national party should have gone out looking for better candidates in some of these races. At least in the competitive districts.

close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. We lost less than usual, yippee!

We lost some state legislatures as well -- in my neck of the woods NH and Maine.

The dems are loony, I can forgive them. NeverTrumper backstabbing GOPers who are smiling tonight, assholes like Matt Drudge and Paul Ryan, people who pulled our side apart when they should have been helping...I'm good and pissed.

i heard you that first time.
you might FEEL better tonight if we had...
but it will be more FUN for you that we did not...

wait till nancy starts speaking in tongues during her speakership! wait till the ultras kick in the extra special sauce and attack the dems who don’t want to be known as the druges of clockwork orange fame.

I am thinking of the special elections that will be triggered by them insisting you CAN marry a light socket and then electrocute themselves while getting frisky with their desk lamps! on the floor of the house.

You will hear this said with a wide grin in the weeks to come...
“we never saw THAT coming... her wife is a red chicken?” or something worse.

I cannot wait to see Trump “tune them up” next session!
or their reaction if the current majority in the house refuses a seat to a couple of the wackos that have just been elected... just for giggles.

think of it more like Pay per View...
They pay, and we get to view... Trump will eat them alive. So will the trumpians that replaced the 40-50 quitters who worked with Ryan to block our agenda...

Losing less than usual today means we have less than usual to make up next election cycle.

Losing some 26 House seats today, as opposed to Obama's loss of 63 in 2010, will make a YUGE difference in 2020. So, yes, yippee!

There’s no shortage of crooks fruits nuts and flakes
on the dem side

Try abolishing open GOP primaries for starters

Instead of the Mark Levins of the world ponderously
proposing fantastic Constitutional conventions that will never
convene how about launching lawsuits to break
up the MSM and social media pukes abusing their legal privileges and
the public spectrum

#23. You couldn’t read some of the voting information on the candidate boxes on the Fox Cable Channel.

Also it was arraigned poorly so by the time you focuses in on the information, it was flipped to the next two races.

That is why we didn’t watch the news until about 11:30PM (Watch “Tron: Legacy” instead. Not back for a follow-up movie).

But I voted in a very blue district, tonight after dark at a school, and the place was packed. First time I ever waited in line before. The other side was more motivated. I could smell it. They despise the President, without really knowing why.

Same exact situation for me in Manhattan...first time waiting on line! And the line went all around the block, and it was raining. Lots of chatter about defeating Trump. And a poll worker went down the line passing out granola bars.

These are not my words, but stated by another Freeper. But it sums things up pretty well, albeit a bit harshly:

(Suburban) Women are stupid. Pretty much chalk up all losses to that. They’re really stupid and emotional and stubborn politically. I'm sure as the sun coming up tomorrow.

We knew, didn’t we, we were going to lose the house. No surprise to us in deep blues.

I’ve not seen any evidence that Paul Ryan lifted a finger to help incumbent Republicans in the House. What a POS!

Fox has been nothing but a con job for a number of years.
With the exception of Lou Dobbs, Fox is just as much a swamp as any of the other alpha bet soup networks.
Any station that would call that FAT, BALD, PIG EYED, SACK OF SH!T Stirewalt their main election correspondent is nothing but SWAMP.

Just tell them with a great big GRIN on your face that “yeah, you got the house back, but that could change in two years. WE GOT THE SENATE FOR THE NEXT 6 YEARS”.
I have great faith that the Senate is not going to change hands for a long time.
