Half of Americans believe that Republicans will maintain control of the House in the midterm elections Tuesday, according to Gallup's nal poll. The result of that question has lined up with the actual election outcome every time Gallup has asked it since 1946. Fifty percent of Americans believe Republicans will stay in power in the House, while 44 percent believe Democrats will take control. In a larger note of condence, Americans also believe that Republicans will retain the majority in the Senate. Sixty-one percent say Republicans will hold power in the Senate following the elections, and 33 percent believe that Democrats will take control. The poll concluded that Democrats are much more worried than Republicans about the outcome of the 2018 midterm elections. Eighty-one percent of Democrats say they are very or somewhat worried about the fallout of a Republican controlled Congress, in either one or both chambers. On the other hand, 66 percent of Republicans say the same about a Democrat win in one or both houses. The survey was conducted from mid to late October.

A House loss would be horrible! It would be all investigations all the time for two years. There would be an impeachment vote. In short complete stagnation until 2020.

The fickle public might decide the Trump revolution is over & “didn’t work” and go back into Dreamland with a Rat!

The markets are slightly up across the board. Nobody is acting like they think the Democrats take over. I’m calling this.

"Never Trumper" just means "Elitist of Republican stripe" rather than "Elitist of Democrat stripe".

Both types of Elitist think of us as deplorables.

<>"As long as the senate is under control it doesn’t matter."<>

Two years of the "Cirque de 'Ratz" matters to the country.

The 'Ratz and the media are salivating: The Collusion Delusion plus the Impeachment will be a windfall of money and power for both.

Yep - Gotta VOTE!

Took 3 passed over 2-1/2 hours before the pol lines were short enough for me to get in - normally there's no problem...

that’s a powerful piece of anecdotal evidence, honestly.

if replicated much, it’s great news for GOP.

i suppose the competing piece of data would be how many of “her” supporters didnt show up in 16 but are going out now to try to stop Trump?

My guess....albeit it is a real guess...is that this number is fewer.

(of course if the votes are in the right districts, clinton’s 2016 raw numbers are enough to give them the house....or not...depending on where the votes land....)

NOT just” Make America Great Again” - now that phrase has morphed into “Keep America Great”.

Building on recent achievements, always a good prognosis.

Even if the Democrats DO manage to take the House, they will manage to marginalize themselves by being only able to take sniper shots, often with poor aim and ineffectual tactics, as virtually everything they vote out of the House will simply go to the Senate to die. And even if it manages to squeak through the Senate, President Trump is unafraid to use the veto pen.

The best (or worst) the Democrats as majority can do is to hold endless hearings, which shall succeed only in further marginalizing themselves, come 2020.

I think between those who didn’t vote in 2016, blacks flipping over to Trump, and some Democrats giving up on their party...you might actually see some surprising results. A minimum of five Senate seats will flip to the GOP, and it might go to nine total seats.

As I said before and it is important to say it again — regardless of any poll, just be sure to get out and VOTE!

You're preaching to the choir.

Freepers are probably the most reliable voters in America.

No wonder the media tries to cast doubt on the GOP so the GOP voters get dejected and lose faith and believe they will lose.

YOu opine: “ As long as the senate is under control it doesn’t matter.”

Perhaps you should read Reily’s post #21

It’s VITAL that we retain the house.

The media seeks them out on the news and in newspapers. “I am a life long Republican, but I am switching to Democrat...” said no voter ever. I wouldn’t say it NEVER happens, but partisan voters and most voter are partisan voters stick with their party through thick and thin. Any into to Political science class will make that clear.

My wife just couldn’t bring herself to vote in 2016...didn’t like either Trump or Hillary.

Just curious - what does your wife think of President Trump now?
