It was an unfortunate choice of words, but it's just the way our President speaks. I've gotten used to it, and don't get my knickers in a twist over his exact phrasing anymore.
Had the lawyers and speechwriters crafted that statement, they would have called rock throwing, 'use of deadly force.'

Give the President a break: He was speaking metaphorically, as he often does, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with that.
