I think that what PDJT is doing two things by bringing this issue to a boil.
He knows it will be challenged in the courts and is expecting that. He also knows it is a popular position.
The two things:
1. He is forcing an issue that needs to be clarified onto the front burner.
2. He is providing a litmus test issue for Republicans on the campaign trail.
This is both, in many people’s mind good for the country and good for Republicans in close races.
He is also now tossing it into the laps of where it should be decided: The do-nothing but preen Congress. FORCE them to do their damned jobs, for a change. Trump wins, yet again.
He is also establishing a strong initial negotiating position relative to getting Congress to act with legislation.
Another thing he will prove is the benefit of the conservative balance on the Supreme Court, which is to his credit. When the Supreme Court uphold Trump’s executive order, his supporters will call for a national holiday with dancing in the streets! Oh! The Left will cry rivers of tears and heads will explode like popcorn! Did I say popcorn?!
