Poll: DeSantis Takes Lead Over Gillum in Florida Gubernatorial Race
Newsmax ^ | 25 Oct 2018

Barely two days after Democrat Andrew Gillum was leading in most polls for governor of Florida, a Strategic Research Associates poll conducted for Gray Television and released Wednesday showed Republican and former Rep. Ron DeSantis pulling into the lead, 48 to 45 percent.

The margin of error was +/-3.46 percent. The poll is the first since the primaries last month to put the conservative DeSantis ahead of Bernie Sanders supporter Gillum.

Virtually every expert who spoke to Newsmax agreed that Gillun was damaged by recent revelations Gillun had misstated that he reimbursed a lobbyist for a ticket to the Broadway show “Hamilton.” Subsequent reports indicated when he actually received it from an FBI agent posing as a real estate developer while the Tallahassee mayor was in New York.

During a stormy debate with DeSantis last week, Gillum described himself as “hard-working” and insisted he had received the ticket from his brother. The latest stories would seem to indicate something else.

DeSantis has been a strong backer of President Trump in Congress and the President campaigned for him even before the primary. Gillun says flatly Trump should be impeached.

Oh boy. I’ve been praying about this. I just can’t believe, even all the transplants to Florida will be that stupid to vote for Gillum. Bigger problem is in my state, Georgia.

Georgia, really has the momentum going. We’ve brought it a ton of new businesses. Everywhere. It is job friendly. There are more jobs than people. I’m in the Southwest where it’s wide open.

They elect this socialist candidate, and it goes out the window. IF she wins, it’s because the GOP guy has NOT got the message out at all.

Where is Trump?

It looks like, according to another article above this one that most of the house seats in California have the Republican incumbent up by 5 ...

Most on the 'at risk' list in CA seem to be within a MOE that make them toss ups. And in these 50/50 districts, other factors at a granular level we can't see will affect turn out.

But in NJ, the early voting has already exceeded 2014 and 2016 early voting, and is heavily Blue. Not sure what's driving it, but NJ and a few other Blue states seeing the same.

Also seeing Red wave as well. I believe we have the chance to turn Senate seats in IN, MO, WV, FL, and MT - ND is a given, and MN is in play.

Ron DeSantis will win...the polls were (surprised?) trying to make Republicans depressed, but it wasn’t going to work. I believe 2 counties (Gasden, which is majority black and the poorest county and Leon, Tallahassee home and home of FSU (aka Free Seafood University) and Florida A&M) will vote Gillum...I think Orange, Osceola and Hillsborough might go for Gillum (but Hillsborough County outside of Tampa will go DeSantis). Rick Scott will retire Nelson

Gillun had misstated that he reimbursed a lobbyist for a ticket to the Broadway show “Hamilton.”

Where I come from "misstated" is lied. Really burns me that no one ever calls it lying. Not even Newmax?

Like telling your wife you were working late when you were drinking with a hooker. No problem, just tell her it was a "misstatement".

I still have my concerns that some of the electorate could still go full retard again.

My brother in law's wife (Florida) never stopped being full retard. She early voted for Gillum.

She's Jewish, from NY, a retired teacher & full scale NEA type. She gets really pissed if you say anything critical about public schools. The few times I've bothered to point out Democrat Antisemitism she refuses to acknowledge me.

Truthfully, I find it nauseating.

I think they will help each other - can’t see vote splitting for Governor and Senator.

For that matter, why would ANY sentient Floridian vote Demonrat?

I voted yesterday, at a poll located in a very diverse part of our county, simply because I didn’t want to stand in line and according to info I found online, the turnout at this particular location was low. There were quite a few voters, all older whites, only saw 2 blacks. If I had to guess I ’d say Gillum isn’t getting out his vote.
