Megyn Kelly has been taken off the air during 9am slot on NBC following blowback after she questioned the offensiveness of blackface, angering much of her audience and colleagues at the network.
CNNs Oliver Darcy, quoting Brian Stelter, (both noted media experts,) weighed in on the reports:
Kellys comments, which came during a discussion on offensive Halloween costumes, can be viewed below:
In Stelters report at CNN, he said that Kellys exit from the 9 a.m. hour of the Today show appears to be imminent, according to sources with knowledge of the matter. Kelly will not be hosting her program on Thursday, and she is unlikely to return later, one of the sources said. Friday episodes of her show are usually pre-taped.
So while Kelly will technically be hosting her show until the end of the week due to pre-tapings, itll exclude her starting next week. Yesterday, ahead of this news, Kelly parted with her talent agency CAA and hired attorney Bryan Freedman. The decision to retain a lawyer may signal a lengthy battle over her contract, which is reportedly valued at $23 million a year. She is in the middle of the second year of a three year contract, Stelter noted.
CBS also reported that Kellys show is in jeopardy this morning:
Kelly is just one year into her $69 million contract, and NBC must be regretting the blunder. The combined salaries of previous hosts Al Roker and Tamron Hall were less than half of Ms. Kellys $23 million-a-year payday, and Kelly has averaged 2.4 million viewers an episode, 18% below what they brought in.
Paying more for less is hardly a winning business strategy, and NBC has their hands tied. Do they waste more money on legal fees disputing her contract, or reposition her on another show, risking their ratings too? Given Kellys ratings, NBC was probably looking for a catalyst to take her off the air, but even then, theyre financially screwed.
Megyn hangin’ wif her .itches. And then you won’t believe what happened next.
This tailspin began when she tried to be THE ONE to knock DJT off the campaign trail with her snarky gotcha! try.
....and she sided with Kavanaugh, they thought she would side with the attackers because she went after Trump.......glad she took NBC for all that $$$$$, suckers
I don’t like this woman but firing her for an unPC opinion is insane. This country has gone completely nuts.
Its back to the stripper pole for Megyn
Lol, you know if this moron had just left DJT alone and not attacked him in that first debate she would still have her prime time slot on FNC and making millions.
Truly a stupid bit*h.
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
“Embrace the pole...” Now THAT’S funny!
I sure hope Fox doesn’t take her back.
She has a really big face.
I sure hope Alex Jones is in the bidding!
And GlennBeck...
Love seeing people getting into the #NPC meme. 4chan just draws pictures. NBC, CNN and others are acting it out with real people on live TV. They are ridiculing the left so much better than 4chan can with hilarious but crudely drawn pictures.
She got her payday by the liberal media. At least she drains there coffers...she is also very toxic now. She will show up at some NY parties, be irrelevant some more and nobody will care.
It’s gone full retard. Never go full retard.
It actually doesn’t say that they’re firing her. It says they are shopping around. I’m sure she has a contract which is not violated quite as easily is NBC would think it could be.
She’d be a great choice for selling those walk-in bathtubs for Seniors. If that doesn’t work out, she could be the spokesman for VA Home Loans. Opportunity awaits.
I was done with Kelly after the Trump debate fiasco.
But I have to admit that during the Kavanaugh hearings she consistently stood up to Chuck Todd and the other NBC lib trolls. They must have had the long knives out for her after that.
They hired her because Trump hated her when they realized she was still a Republican.
Btw, Fox News commentators were hostile to Kavanaugh saying consistently Ford’s claims were “credible.”
And bleeds from...everywhere.
“political correctness got her ... how ironic ...”
Yes.
