That’s very sad.
I thought the evil witch had it whenvshe was on the court and said US courts should consider FOREIGN court decisions in rendering decisions involving the US constitution.
Reagan had Alzheimers. Once you get it, its a slow decline until youre gone.
Not surprised to hear it about OConnor. Prayers for her and her family and friends.
Her deceased husband experienced the same end.
Why did Reagan appoint her again?
Unfortunate. I wish her and her family well.
Sad to hear, watched my mom go through it. The time that really killed me was the first time she didn’t recognize me.
There are a couple on the SCOTUS that are probably further advanced than she is.
Horrible disease.
I thought the mass murderess died a long time ago. Didn’t know she was still on earth.
Early onset.
Sad....that’s a tough way to go.
Sad. :(
Sad to hear, she was a horrible Justice but nobody should have that happen to them.
While I obviously had issues with some rulings, she is still a good person unlike RBG.
I am very sad to read this.
88 years old.
Not a bad way to go for the individual....tough on the family.
Told the gf if it happens to me, that she is absolved, and to just pin my S.S. # to my shirt and drop me off at the nearest place. I told her, in the words of Glen Campbell, “I’m not gonna miss you”.
I’m still here, but yet I’m gone
I don’t play guitar or sing my songs
They never defined who I am
The man that loves you ‘til the end
You’re the last person I will love
You’re the last face I will recall
And best of all, I’m not gonna miss you
Not gonna miss you
I’m never gonna hold you like I did
Or say I love you to the kids
You’re never gonna see it in my eyes
It’s not gonna hurt me when you cry
I’m never gonna know what you go through
All the things I say or do
All the hurt and all the pain
One thing selfishly remains
I’m not gonna miss you
I’m not gonna miss you
~Glen Campbell
In 2006 Sandra had to put her husband in an Alzheimer’s care facility. He had been dealing with Alzheimer’s for a long time, and at that point he didn’t even know who his wife was anymore. As soon as he moved into the care facility he “fell in love” with another woman, and he was openly googly woogly ookie wookie with this woman.
Can you imagine how crushing this must have been for Sandra? She and her husband had happily married for 55 years. When asked about her husband’s new lover by the press, she said, “I just want him to be happy.” Her husband died in 2009.
Sorry to hear this news. Regardless of my opinion of her voting and opinions on the SC (and it isn’t very high), for anyone to literally lose their mind and know that it is happening must be horrifying. For someone as intelligent as she, it must be more so.
FWIW, she is the aunt of my (long ago) Torts professor at Vanderbilt U. Law School. The year before I started there, he convinced her to give the keynote speech at graduation - that had to be a thrill for those graduates.
