Basically true. Leftwing thought from the 18th Century Jacobins on has been about the pursuit of "wish lists." Those people are never grounded in reality--or actual experience driven thinking. They pursue wishes of what they would like to be true. This is clearly what most distinguishes them from the American tradition.
