In 2011, the publication 24/7 Wall St. compiled the following list of the ten states doing the "most" and the "least" to "spread the wealth." A migration study compiled from 2016 to 2017 by the U.S. Census provides some thought-provoking data on these 20 states:

If social spending improves the overall quality of life, why are so many Americans relocating away from the states on the left?

RE: North Florida, Jacksonville to Pensacola, with the exception of Tallahassee, is mostly conservative, military and retired military...........
Ever notice that STATE CAPITALS ( e.g. Tallahassee, Austin, etc. ) in Red States tend to be the most liberal?
“Liberals are hedonists.
How many Hurricanes will they stay through?
When the power goes out, work and sweat enter the picture.”

While I agree with your assessment wholeheartedly, MrEdd, the laws they manage to enact seem to stay forever...that’s the fear factor....
Lawng Guylanders for a few more weeks LOL
That’s where the government is................
Liberals are attracted to government like flies are attracted to piles of fresh fecal matter................
Many years ago, when I was young and my hearing hadn’t gone, I was in The USMC.
I had a lot of buddies there that were from various parts of NYC and the surrounding environs.
By listening to their voices I could eventually tell what part of the city they were from, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Bronx, Queens, LI etc.
They could practically tell what street or neighborhood you were from by the accent....
My mother-in-law lives in Melbourne/Palm Bay area and her BF is a retired police detective from the Bronx who also was a detective in Miami..........
With Florida’s constant influx of people, it may well flip in the future................
Yep. The homogenizing of America continues apace. Soon, we’ll be VIOLET. Or is that VIOLENT as we confront one another?
The Northeasterners that relocated to Flahrida are some of the worst, most messed up, people I have ever met in all my life! Then again, a few were an absolute joy.
It has been my experience that the conservative people, who have moved from the Northeast US to Florida, become very active in conservative political organizations in Florida.
The Conservative Northeasterners know very well how the leftists destroyed their state and do not want the same thing to happen in Florida.
We native Floridians have been fighting the relentless hordes of Leftist New Yorkers and New Jerseyites pouring into our state and trying to turn it into exactly the kind of socialist hellhole they fled for decades. Miami is a lost cause but the rest of Florida sure as hell isnt. At this point, wed like to kick Miamis 3 counties out. The other 64 counties are in a different galaxy culturally and politically.
A lot of the Midwesterners Florida has long gotten are OK. Sure theyre not Southerners, speak with funny accents, wear black socks with sandals and have to be properly educated on Southern cooking - but by and large, theyre our kind of people so theyre OK.
Sure we get a few conservatives from the Northeast but damn do we get a ton of aging Leftists whove come to our state to die. Even worse are younger northeastern Leftists who come to Dade/Palm/Broward counties and immediately try to start making Florida into South New Jersey. Orlando has seen an influx of outsiders and is in the mushy middle. Tampa and Sarasota etc remain mostly traditional Florida ie Southern and conservative. North Florida - say Daytona westward all the way to the Florabama border is Dixie. ie loves the military, low tax, pro gun, traditional. Its North Florida that keeps Florida in the red column far more often than not.
Because they turn their states into s***holes, and then flee without figuring out why their states deteriorated. When they arrive at a new place, they still vote the same way. That is how dolts from MA ruined NH.
Your MIL’s BF sounds like some FL residents we interacted with on a Carnival cruise in 1995. They told my wife and me that both husbands were 20-year retirees from NYPD who came to FL and started a second LEO career with a sheriff’s office. Apparently, this is quite a thing in the frozen north for those that catch on early with a metro PD that has a good retirement plan. Retire early enough to get into another retirement program in FL, live well on the new salary plus retirement in a lower cost location with a more favorable environment, and infect the area with your screwed up ideas on social matters that turned your previous residence into a toilet. What a plan!!
You’re probably the wrong sex, wrong color, wrong sexual orientation, so no, you get nothing. However, there is a nice bridge just outside if town.
The problem is, after the LIEberal Yankee immigrants turn Flori-duh into a LIEberal Damn Yankee state, where are we gonna go to escape the LIEberals?
Joe. Please remove me from the FL Ping list. Too much spamming.
You’re off.
