I researched my ancestry before DNA tests were popular and everything pointed back to 12th century Scotland on my dad’s side. I found my ancestry went back to followers of King David of Scotland. They were English Normans that fought with him and were given land in Scotland.
I had my DNA done and it proved my research. All total I’m 99.1% from North, South, and Western Europe which includes Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. I’m 21% Scots/Irish/Welsh and that’s significant. The rest was Europe, Germany, and Italy, mostly from my mother’s side. Some of the European (English) ancestors were English Normans.
Mine showed no Native American or African American and my family came here in the 1700’s. They settled in the Appalachians that were full of Cherokee and I still didn’t have any Cherokee ancestry.
1% Native American is not significant. She would have been better off to keep her mouth shut.
