“...sweet precious child...”

Our daughter was pregnant with their second child when he was diagnosed with heterotaxty syndrome at 20 weeks in utero. (organs are mirrored). It affected his heart and since he had no pulmonary vein surgery could not help him.

We even went to the children’s Hospital in Philadelphia (we live in upstate NY) to see if their was anything that can be done and there was not. Despite pressure even from her in laws to have an abortion ( supposedly it would be “easier” - easier for who? the baby? my daughter is a nurse and she knows that the babies are chopped into pieces and can feel pain) she carried the pregnancy to term so she and her husband could meet and hold their baby - they named him Wyatt and he lived several weeks - and so that he could be baptized.

They were told that it was a genetic cause for the heterotaxy and that the odds were only about 1% that it would happen again.

Well, one year later it did happen again and Martin also lived just a few weeks - again they pressured our daughter to have any abortion - again she carried the baby to term, (this baby was eligible for heart surgery but he did not survive it) so she could hold him and have him baptized.

However!!! Several months after Martin’s death our daughter became pregnant with healthy, identical boy twins!!!

Neither of our families has ever had a twin and these boys, now 14 months are gifts directly from God.

Sorry my story is long - it is meant as encouragement that God will carry you through this!

OMG. God is so good! I teared up reading and then tried to read your sweet story out loud to my husband ..but just started crying. Despite their unbelievable grief, your daughter (and all of you), kept Gods plan in your hearts and were blessed. I’m so filled with hope when I read such stories. Beautiful faithfulness. Thank you for sharing. My brother’s first baby died in utero at about 28 weeks, I think. My sister in law says she literally could feel the prayers of all of us as she went through the delivery of sweet Therese. She is buried at Arlington. I remember thinking “coffins shouldn’t be this small”. I know you know the feeling. They now have 5 kids! Your family’s suffering yet steadfast faith is such a testimony...never ever ever let go of God. :)

Thank you for your wonderful story about your daughter’s journey. It is a story of sorrow and then complete joy. God is good. Congratulations on the twins.
