CNN is shining a light on three of the most consequential races in 2018 including the Texas bid for U.S. Senate through debates or town halls in the coming weeks.
But Texans wont get to see incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and Democratic challenger U.S. Rep. Beto ORourke of El Paso face off in this series.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R) declined CNNs invitation to participate in the town hall, a CNN statement noted.
So ORourke will be featured in a live, one-hour town hall with CNN Chief Political Correspondent Dana Bash in South Texas on Oct. 18.
The Cruz campaign did not immediately respond Tuesday afternoon to a request on why the senator will not participate.
The solo town hall will air at 9 p.m. central time Oct. 18 and be televised from the McAllen Performing Arts Center.

It would be the same trap that he experienced in the restaurant a few weeks ago.
If I were PDJT I’d do debates this way.
Each candidate would be in a soundproof booth so they could not hear or reply to the other’s answers.
Then have them asked EXACTLY the same questions.
They have 3 minutes to respond and then the microphone is cut off.
The audience must be able to hear the question being asked.
After 4 identical questions then each candidate would be asked 1 question provided to the moderator from the opposition campaign.
LOL!!
Poor A$$hole from El Paso will have to defend socialism for an entire hour.
Exactly. But, there are no metered viewers as there are on your boxes at home.
Texas will VETO Beto!
I think that Beto declined to debate further. It will be interesting to see what the viewership will be without Ted Cruz. Can anyone imagine the sheer boredom of an hour with Beto?
Never march for Moscow in the winter, and never appear on CNN if you are a Republican.
Fox should offer Cruz a town hall at the same time and date.
He’s doing the right thing. Cruz shouldn’t even give CNN the time of day. They should not be acknowledged as legitimate.
I feel like there’s more to this story that’s very interesting....
Cruz made the right decision.
Why back out or not go? Does he think this is sown up?! He had a draw with Beto last time which is a loss for the debate champion. Can President Trump drag him over the line if he isnt trying to win? Should he/
If CNN is so bad, why did he accept in the first place?
Sounds like CNN invited him into a trap, knowing it would be a lose-lose for Cruz and gambled that they would end up giving the fake Mexican an hour of free PR.

CNN would have questioned along this line: “Is it true Senator Cruz that you drank beer in high school and on at least one occasion looked at a girl from behind?”
Sounds like a plan. At least its far better than what we have now, where far left Democrats posing as mainstream media moderators, skewer the Republican candidates while letting the Democrats have an easy ride. Not sure why we have tolerated this nonsense for so long.
CNN = low ratings
bttt
In the interest of fairness Fox should give Cruz an hour on their stations.
