Trump makes congratulatory call to Justice Kavanaugh: 'It was well fought'

President Trump on Saturday cheered the elevation of Brett M. Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and slammed Democrats for going to extremes to try and sink him.

“If you look at what he’s had to endure — horrible. False statements, and it just doesn’t get any worse. But the beautiful thing is, he is now in,” Mr. Trump told reporters upon his arrival in Topeka, Kansas, for a campaign rally.

He said he had just called Justice Kavanaugh to congratulate him.

“It was well fought. I mean, who would have thought a thing like that could have happened, what he’s been through. Everything was uncorroborated,” Mr. Trump said.

The president reflected on the lasting impact his nominee would have on the high court.

“He’s going to be there for a long time, and he’s just an outstanding intellect, outstanding scholar, a brilliant lawyer, brilliant at everything he’s ever done. So, we’re very happy,” he said.

Earlier, Justice Kavanaugh won a narrow nearly party line confirmation vote. His nomination was nearly derailed by weeks of 11th-hour accusations of sexual misconduct from his high school and college days.

Under pressure, the White House reopened a FBI background check to explore the allegation. Investigators were not able to find any corroboration of the allegations.

Thank goodness for POTUS and his grit, and for the R’s in the senate actually growing a backbone at the right time, and not allowing one of the dirtiest smear campaigns we’ve ever seen.
Hill was bad enough, but gang rape? Sheesh.

I think the Fox interview was a pivotal moment in all this.
