Federal judge blocks Trump administration from ending TPS program

A federal judge issued a preliminary injunction on Wednesday evening, temporarily blocking the Trump administration from ending the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program for over 300,000 immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador, Honduras and Sudan.

U.S. District Judge Edward Chen ruled that the program's termination would result in "irreparable harm and great hardship" for its beneficiaries and their families. The TPS program protects migrants from countries suffering from crises such as health epidemics, war or natural disasters.

Chen wrote the administration must maintain TPS from those four countries as a lawsuit challenging the program's termination goes on, CNN reported.

— Cecillia Wang (@WangCecillia) October 4, 2018 Over 1,000 TPS recipients from Sudan were set to lose their protections on Nov. 2, while others were going to lose their status next year.

Chen during hearings last week agreed that the Trump administration's decision to end the program could reflect a racial bias against migrants from non-white nations, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Immigrants from 10 nations currently benefit from TPS, including 263,000 Salvadorans, 5,300 Nicaraguans, 46,000 Haitians and 1,000 Sudanese, the Chronicle reported. Trump since taking office has announced plans to terminate protected status for most of those who currently have it.

TPS beneficiaries have been protesting the administration's plans to end the program for months, with dozens of truck drivers in Los Angeles stopping traffic last week to demonstrate against the cancellation.

Truck drivers in Los Angeles stopped traffic to protest the cancellation of Temporary Protected Status. Around 60 peaceful protesters were arrested. The cancellation of TPS could lead to the deportation of over 300,000 people – the majority from El Salvador, Haiti, and Honduras.

“We need federal judges to stop federal judges.”

The ceckless funts in congress have abdicated their responsibility to rein in these treasonous judges. The damage these judges are doing to what’s left of our constitutional republic can not be overstated.

This case will probably go to the SCOTUS. It would be sweet revenge on the Libtards if Brett Kavanaugh gets to rule on it when he is with the Supremes.

If he wants to side with the invaders over the American citizen, send him back to where his family came from.

The only court that should have the power to order a President to do,or not to do,something is SCOTUS.

The SCOTUS in two earlier immigration cases ruled that District Court Judges do not have jurisdiction to issue such sweeping national and international injunctions; they are not the proper venue for these political cases. This judge was specifically reversed on at least one of those cases for doing the same thing. He's arrogant.

No court can order the POTUS to do anything! They can rule something he does unconstitutional, and therefore block it. But they cannot order him to do anything!

And if we still had any respect for the constitution, the POTUS would not be doing anything more than merely executing the laws passed by Congress. So any SCOTUS chides would be against unconstitutional legislation by Congress.

We are so far off the rails now, can we find our way back?

Looks like federal judges are the judicial branch, the legislative branch and the executive branch all wrapped up into one. Isn’t that convenient. Who would have ever been dumb enough to give so much power to one branch./s

Are decisions handed down by federal judges ever overturned? Or does it just require that they be ignored?

This will end up in the SCOTUS. New justice Kavanaugh will be on the side to shoot it down. RGB, Sotamayor, and Kagan can go pound sand.

Co-equal means “mind your own business”.

There is no such thing as Co-equal branches of Government. In fact the head branch has abdicated in favor of what isn’t. So yes now we do sort of have co-equal but we should not.

Democrat talking points co-equal branches of Government.
