The decision by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley to have Arizona sex crimes prosecutor Rachel Mitchell question Christine Blasey Ford may well be remembered as a brilliant and quite possibly pivotal choice.
No doubt, allowing Mitchell to ask questions instead of Republican senators served a defensive purpose, avoiding the spectacle of a bunch of old, white men publicly questioning a woman who says she was a victim of sexual abuse. But Mitchells methodical, genial approach left many supporters of Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh deeply frustrated, with some complaining that Mitchell was not laying a glove on Ford.

While it’s good to have Ford on the record committing perjury, most of the uninformed public will still be uninformed. It would have been more effective to have tripped her up and confronted her as she was speaking, and have her lies exposed during the hearing. As it is now, the msm will not report the findings, will put a spin on them, and it’s effect is diminished.
There’s no evidence to prove or disprove, so the best you can do is to show the inconsistencies of her story and get her to try and embellish her written statement, which seems to be vague and non-specific on purpose.
Can you imagine after a question by one of the Republicans, the Dem Senators would explode and attack the Republican. Rachel Mitchell was perfect, she stopped a good portion of what this testimony could have devolved to.
The next thing you know people will start questioning HRCs use of I dont remember if Fords testimony is questioned. If the Republicans do challenge Fords testimony (remember shes a woman who sniffled) they must have the VERIFIABLE goods on her big time.
“I believe the fake doctor fell hook, line, and sinker into a perjury trap.....
.because she will NEVR be prosecuted. Sad, but true.”
Hold on there Skippy. A message to Democrats will have to be sent. This one was too big to let go, especially when she lied on national TV to the entire country.
Someone will get prosecuted for this and/or there will be quite a few “I’m not seeking reelection” comments.
If some FReepers had their way, they’d be backslapping each other for a ‘moral victory’ after Kavanaugh had been rejected by the Committee.
This is going to be a great weekend, I get the feeling.
><
Yes, a very good weekend in many ways.
After Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed, the Left is going to go berserk and continue to show their true, ugly colors. That’s good for our side.
me too..i was frustrated with her....but shes been doing this for 26 years and im sure has heard plenty of fake “rape” stories.....she really sealed her up nicely...bravo.
Some of we freepers posted Mitchell was very effective in questioning Ford the same day.
I was saying it during the testimony. It was obvious Ford is an idiot, and Mitchell proved it. She appeared to be tricked into saying too much. The plane trips was pretty obvious while I watched it.
Mitchell laid the groundwork for analysis of Ford's testimony which falls apart under it's own weight without any further questioning. This illustration makes that clear, and this is just the time frame, there are many other inconsistencies:
Go read the letter her lawyers wrote yesterday to FBI - BEGGING them to interview her. Of course they wanted her to be interviewed because they'd have loaded the FBI up with dozens of names to go check out, which would have taken weeks, and if they tried to vote in the meantime the Dems would have thrown a shit-fit about "ongoing investigation".
Whoever in the Trump Administration has been running this thing was three steps ahead of these nitwits.
Agreed, I can’t believe WaPo published this.
That’s not what FReepers were saying right after Ford’s testimony.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That’s not what ALL Freepers were saying. Some were busy clutching pearls, others decided to let it roll.
She committed perjury. Big deal. When's the last time the Senate charged someone for lying to a committee?
We can prove she coached someone taking a polygraph. BIG DEAL. See above.
There was no jury hearing her testimony who will decide this 'case'. No jury except for Collins, Murkowski and Flake. And these three stooges are too stupid to notice how well the prosecutor did and too corrupt to care unless there's a HUGE groundswell of support for Kavanaugh from their voters. Flake has NO reason to support Trump's pick. (This REALLY, REALLY is all about Trump)
All we can hope for is that after the FBI report comes back and it is a clear and unambiguous statement of Kavanaugh's good character. And with that as cover Collins and Murkowski see their way to doing what they were elected to do. Flake is a lost cause in my estimation and should be beaten with a cane on the Floor of the Senate.
I’d like to know who leaked Ford’s info.
If Ford was PAID to lie under oath before the Senate, I’d like to know that as well. I think that’d be prosecuted.
Hold on there Skippy.
I believe she could have asked more probing questions, but my guess is in her professional mind, as an expert, she determined early on the statements would not hold up and she knew what her recommendation was going to be. What she didn’t count on was how the dims would be a no to Kav, even if she got Ford to admit she was lying about the whole thing. She is flake-y......assuming the dims will do the right thing when she give her summation that this would never be prosecuted and was weaker than most she said / he said situations.
It is not really up to her to pass judgment. Her job was simply make sure that enough hard facts come out to determine the truth. However, she raised enough concerns that investigations will follow in terms of perjury..
I think the FBI needs to look into Go Fund ME. I think it's a perfect way to launder money, pay brides and make other payoffs.
And BTW...I'd bet the house she was paid to lie. The whole damned house.
Probably lifelong Republicans...they still think that's the way it's done.
