When did that happen? I went to high school downtown on Eye St. but finished there in ‘67 and was not around DC all that much after that. I had lived in Silver Spring, though.
Had to be about that time 67-69...I left DC in late 69. Mom worked two blocks north of the WH and was always bringing Chanterelles home. Being a HS guy my interest in food was the eating of it, so never paid much attention the few times I went.
Big assortments of foreign foods... game meat and fowl, condiments, canned goods.
Trying recall HS on Eye? Catholic? Western for me.
