The F.B.I. Can Do This (Comey NYT alert)
New York Times ^ | September 30, 2018 | James Comey

...

If truth were the only goal, there would be no clock, and the investigation wouldn’t have been sought after the Senate Judiciary Committee already endorsed the nominee. Instead, it seems that the Republican goal is to be able to say there was an investigation and it didn’t change their view, while the Democrats hope for incriminating evidence to derail the nominee.

Although the process is deeply flawed, and apparently designed to thwart the fact-gathering process, the F.B.I. is up for this. It’s not as hard as Republicans hope it will be.

F.B.I. agents are experts at interviewing people and quickly dispatching leads to their colleagues around the world to follow with additional interviews. Unless limited in some way by the Trump administration, they can speak to scores of people in a few days, if necessary.

They will confront people with testimony and other accounts, testing them and pushing them in a professional way. Agents have much better nonsense detectors than partisans, because they aren’t starting with a conclusion.

Yes, the alleged incident occurred 36 years ago. But F.B.I. agents know time has very little to do with memory. They know every married person remembers the weather on their wedding day, no matter how long ago. Significance drives memory. They also know that little lies point to bigger lies. They know that obvious lies by the nominee about the meaning of words in a yearbook are a flashing signal to dig deeper.

Once they start interviewing, every witness knows the consequences. It is one thing to have your lawyer submit a statement on your behalf. It is a very different thing to sit across from two F.B.I. special agents and answer their relentless questions. Of course, the bureau won’t have subpoena power

Yes, the alleged incident occurred 36 years ago. . . . time has very little to do with memory. . . . They know that obvious lies . . . are a flashing signal to dig deeper.

That sure begs the question why Ford can’t remember anything. And she’s obviously lied. Whoever at the Times who wrote this must be brain-dead.

Accidentally cut out part of the quote:

Significance drives memory. They also know that little lies point to bigger lies.

How RICH!

Leaking Jim Comey:
“Yes, the alleged incident occurred 36 years ago. But F.B.I. agents know time has very little to do with memory. They know every married person remembers the weather on their wedding day, no matter how long ago. Significance drives memory.”

This broad can’t remember anything! But she’s certain it was Kavanagh.

Frightening to think how crooked the FBI became under Comey.

"F.B.I. agents are experts at interviewing people and quickly [!!!] dispatching leads to their colleagues around the world to follow with additional interviews. Unless limited in some way by the Trump administration, they can speak to scores of people in a few days [!!! emphases added], if necessary."

So how come 2016 election-related allegations against Pres. Trump did not get the FBI’s express service?

Agents like Peter Strzok?

“...dispatching leads to their colleagues around the world to follow with additional Interviews....”

I’m sure there’s a Patagonian shepherd or Bantu yam farmer, or Nepalese Sherpa who can corroborate Ford’s story.

Shouldn’t Comey be down getting fitted for a bright Orange Jumpsuit for the day President Trump releases the Un-Redacted FISA Spy Docs?

Comey's comments here only confirm and substantiate Trump's reasons for firing of him as FBI director.

This shows he's a political partisan and not the neutral investigator he claims to be. Your integrity must have slipped out of neutral and into reverse when you "handled" the Clinton illegal emails and server debacle, huh, Mr. Comey?

For Comey to venture out in public commenting on this or any FBI investigation at all is hard to fathom. Is he tone-deaf? The optics are terrible and not on his side.

If the FBI handles this investigation like Comey did the Hillary Clinton investigation, then surely Ford (Hillary) will be revealed as a saint and Kavanaugh (Trump) will be an evil to be disposed of.

It remains to be seen if the FBI is still politically partisan in their investigative work or if Trump has forced enough bad apples out of the barrel to bring some professionalism back to the FBI.

And yet, as pointed out by others, after a year, the FBI hasn’t been able to figure out the how and why (and maybe the who) of the Las Vegas massacre. Hotel surveillance cameras, dozen of staff, etc, etc, yet no progress. But a teenage party at an unknown location and unknown place three decades later will be a snap.

N-i-i-i-c-e deconstruction.

If truth were the only goal:

<><>Feinstein would not have sat on the allegation until the last minute,

<><> Ford would have spoken to judiciary committee members in private, as Kavanaugh did,

<><> Judiciary Democrats would have asked her questions about the truthfulness of her story instead of gushing over her.

“But F.B.I. agents know time has very little to do with memory. They know every married person remembers the weather on their wedding day, no matter how long ago.”

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No idea what the weather was like when I married. We were indoors. And time has little to do with it? Is he totally insane?

A traumatic memory can stay with you. I can remember far more details about the only time I’ve pulled a gun in self-defense (without using it) nearly 40 years ago than Dr Fraud can remember about her supposed sexual assault.

But part of the problem - by design - with Dr Fraud’s account is that it was ALWAYS unverifiable. No witnesses. No time. No date. No location. No one told for over 30 years, and then no one given a name. It is a nothing burger, and was always meant to be unverifiable.

How would Comey know what the FBI can do. He let underlings run the agency for him while all he did was pick up his paychecks.

Hey ... if the FBI can go through all of Hillary’s 30k+ emails in a few days then they can handle this task.
