One thing is for sure Ford has got to be questioned further because there is nothing to go on. An investigation needs to start with Ford coming in again to another public televised hearing conducted strictly with that lady expert questioning her. Got to find out who that other boy is and where the house is that she described near the country club where she swam. Had to be someone Judge K knew since they didn’t run in the same circles. She needs to be questioned more about who contacted who about what when it came to reporting this and who is paying for everything. I would also like to know what Shelia Jackson Lee was caught on camera giving her lawyer. I think we have a right to know these things and more about this woman.

Of course this is how it has worked in the past. But we have a new factor now... The GOP is willing to acknowledge what they see with this where they never would have before...

They are throwing caution to the wind and don’t care what skeletons are dug out of THEIR OWN closet. :)

Flake, at least, VOTED to limit it to Ford’s allegation.

I agree the pressure to delay will be relentless - and perhaps successful - but I don’t think this little maneuver added or subtracted from that pressure.

What it did do is clear a hurdle - and that’s a good thing. It also puts flake on record for what it would take to get his vote - a week or less of getting the FBI to put its stamp of approval that the evidence has been followed up - and it all but rules out a scenario where Flake is a committed “no”.

The 2 hour rule prevents a Senate committee from meeting after 2:00 at any time the Senate is in session. The idea is that senators should not be taken away from full Senate business for extended periods of time or at certain times in order to attend committee meetings. Grassley outfoxed them on this, announcing immediately after the vote was taken, coincidentally just after 2:00, that the meeting was adjourned.

That actually isn't correct. The truth is that the Committee vote was essentially meaningless, because the nomination could have proceeded to the Senate floor with or without Flake's vote. And whatever Grassley did at the end really doesn't matter either.

Very unfortunately, all the power is in the hands of Flake, Collins, and Murkowski. They don't have to vote against Kavanaugh -- all they have to do is vote against any motion to invoke cloture - end the filibuster - and move to a vote. They can delay a vote as long as they want once it gets to the full Senate. And regardless of what was said by Grassley there at the end, they're going to have the power to drag this out as long as they want.

Best case is that at least two of them are satisfied with a more or less perfunctory FBI "investigation", and there is a vote in a week or so.

But I wouldn't hold my breath.

It’s an open door. Anything said or anyone coming forward resets the clock to zero. Unless McConnell says, “Enough is enough,” this is ad infinitum ad nauseam.

I know this seems like nit-picking, but it's an important point. He vote was to advance the nomination to the full Senate and that's it. That's why Grassley smiled when he voted yes. All his talk about the FBI investigation was merely a statement of the conditions upon which he would vote for confirmation on the floor of the Senate. The Judiciary Committee can't send a conditional referral to the Senate. It has to be yes or no. (Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Yes, but it's certainly better to have the referral from the Judiciary Committee than not to have it.

It is out of committee. There will be no such hearing. However, the FBI certainly WOULD have to interview Ford to go anywhere at all.

You have said nothing to prove that what was said is incorrect. It is irreverent weather the nomination could have been moved to the floor without a vote or not. The fact is that the choice was made to vote on it for various reasons. If the FBI says no dice then that may actually be in our favor.

So the FBI will send her a letter saying they will interview her anywhere, anytime. Her lawyers won't giver her the letter for a few months.

Democrats want to delay to get more people to come forth, which we all know will not happen.

FBI will NOT, I repeat will NOT find anything on Kavanaugh, to do so will not look favorably on their prior clearance.

FBI will NOT, I repeat will NOT find anything on Kavanaugh anyway. The man was a nerd in HS, a goody two shoes that likes to hang out with the guys, and play basketball. He was a virgin throughout HS and most of college.

FBI WILL, I repeat WILL find Mucho stuff on Ford. I bet you Trump knows this. YOu don’t think they have investigators already digging stull up on her.

Dems think delaying will help their case...

IT WILL HURT THEIR CASE...

Trump has pulled another on them all, by authorizing the FBI, once again calling the dem’s bluff, and looking like the bigger man.

I would also like to know what Shelia Jackson Lee was caught on camera giving her lawyer.

They took up a collection and that was it, I am betting.

To pay her fees.

Ford, per twitter with pics, had at least 5 gofundme accounts with a total of over 500 grand as of yesterday.

I have a pic of her laughing just after testifying in a huge way.

She really is showing herself to be making out like a bandit on this one.

Thanks for researching this....although I was highly irritated that Grassley allowed the rats to bloviate, perhaps it was to enable him to halt the meeting whenever he chose after the 2 hour minimum was reached. The guy has been around since dirt was new.

And wth is up with Lindsey acting like he just hit the lottery after Flake’s announcement? He went a from a no-nonsense roaring lion of a man yesterday to a bumbling, naive fool today.
