Someone on Capitol Hill just doxxed Republican Sens. Mike Lee, Orrin Hatch, and Lindsey Graham
Washington Examiner ^ | 09/27/2018 | Philip Wegmann

Posted on 09/27/2018 3:59:20 PM PDT by Rusty0604

Somebody working from a House of Representatives office is editing the Wikipedia pages of Republican senators to post what looks like their home addresses.

Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and both Mike Lee and Orrin Hatch of Utah all had their home addresses posted online. It is called doxxing, and it is despicable.

I ditched a lot of people during the zero years.

Just told them I was making changes in my life. Didn’t tell them that they were one of them.. Sometimes you just need to get rid of clutter. It will set you free.

Your welcome. Anywhere you “go” you location and type of device you’re is known. There are ways to get around that, e.g.proxy use, but I don’t think that’s the case here since the ip has been consistent on Wikipedia since June of last year.
If a person snooped enough they could probably figure out exactly who did it going by the Wikipedia edits the IP address made - as it would likely indicate the person’s interests.

“Even if that’s coming out of an open public WiFi the House has set up, the logs should still have the IP of the sender ?
Assuming it wasn’t routed thru a proxy or 37”

Looks to be a static address, proxys tend to used diff IPS. I would guess that Wikipedia’s logs the type of address.
But even when a person uses a proxy he has to get on the “on ramp” from somewhere else (and when they go on the “off ramp”), and those logs aren’t protected from law enforcement or the courts.

Thanks, I looked up the IP address on https://www.iplocation.net, it says House of Representatives, but I don’t have the resources to know the particular device or computer.

“Is it still in the history, or did the mods wipe that?”

They should be gone. The only way they would still be available is if the culprit used some way to archive it before the was reverted back to normal.\e.g you can use something like this to preserve a page -
http://archive.is

But you’d just be leaving more breadcrumbs leading back to you.

Yup, there’s lots of ways to find your own/other’s IP!

I tracked down a troll on another forum years back by using an image on a website I had in one of my posts. So when he replied at a certain time, I checked my websites logs to see who “called up” that specific image at the times he posted back to me. I traced him down to pretty much the bldg he was in. Great good fun! He was posting using several names to be his own sockpuppet fake amen corner - they all traced back to the same bldg.

This is a good site to tell you about your device and what info it might be “leaking” (it’s a safe site and great for security testing)-
