This entire hearing was one massive trap set for the GOP, and the Dems were desperately hoping they’d fall into one of them. Why do you think Ford’s lawyers were so upset when they heard Mitchell would be doing the questioning?

Questioner too easy on Kavanaugh? - nope.
Kavanaugh brutally attacking Ford? - nope.
What you should do was exactly what they did - seem to play nice, but expose her inconsistencies gently, and allow viewers to determine that she’s disturbed and troubled ON THEIR OWN.
Then Kavanaugh aggressively defends himself while not attacking Ford directly.
Then the GOP senators take over, and accuse Ford of being an unfortunate, sad pawn in the hands of evil, corrupt Democrat politicians and lawyers, who will get into the sewer and do anything to defeat Kavanaugh.
Brilliant.
That’s why the Democrats were so gobsmacked and aimless (and looked bad) when it came time to question BK. They’d been neutered by the GOP strategy, and every stupid thing they tried to bring up (HS yearbook pages? Avenatti’s bullcrap?) validated what the GOP wanted people to think about them.

Senator Graham, however, was able to thread the needle today — perfectly focused rage. He was amazing.
This hearing went on about as well as it possibly could given the circumstances
Pretty much everybody realizes Ford is lying to try to shut down the Supreme Court nomination. Now it’s just a matter whether a person wants pretend mock, end justifies the means, indignation to play along with the charade and keep the nominee from getting confirmed or if they are outraged that a good man is getting smeared for political advantage
Now it’s all about getting the votes to confirm
To get the nomination confirmed, things went very well
Republicans were given no good reasons ( or excuses) to prevent them from voting to confirm and the Democrats were given no sound bites to give them a weapon mobilize their base and to beat up Republicans in the November election
On the other hand, Democrats overplayed their hands and really angered and alienated many Americans
Wow - MrTatt and I were out all day on appointments and were unable to watch or listen - got home and went right to Lindsey - WHOA! Finally - someone tells it ALL just as it is! Who knew it would be Lindsey?!
Then we listened to Kavanaugh’s entire statement... oh my...he is Too Good a man for Washington D.C., but please Lord, let him be seated, to add strength to strength with President Trump. And together they can send Americans And the Left a message.
Finally - the commentary......so many talking about how shocking Kavanaugh was, and then whether his “strategy” would work?!? To the media and the politicians - it is all theater, a show, a game!
